Thighlander Posted March 9, 2014 Share Posted March 9, 2014 I moved into a new place a few weeks ago, and noticed myself lugging a lot of water. Years ago, I had been very happy with Porniping (sic). I couldn't find their number, and then I searched Google, and found at least three old threads on TV. A lot of the information is already out of date, and a lot of the numbers don't work anymore. I thought I would share my experience, and if anyone would like to add their provider and prices, please do so. It's getting hot, and you definitely want to stay hydrated. Also, there seemed to be a lot of discussion on the policies changing regarding bringing it to the door of your condo. I went with Glacier, the bottles say PM for pure mountain, and it is described as ozonated. 20, one liter plastic bottles is 42 THB, and they do deliver to my sixth floor door. Deposit is 200 on the case. The numbers I have for them are: 087-6581600 and 094-6404019. I was able to get 'er done without speaking Thai, so that is probably a consideration, also. The glass bottles are 50 thb per case plus a 300 thb deposit. When I lived in the baking sun of Arizona, they used to say you should drink one ounce of water for every two pounds of body weight, per day. BTW, this thread isn't about cancer, plastic bottles, under sink filters, etc...it's about getting drinking water delivered to your door. Oscar2 Posted March 9, 2014 Share Posted March 9, 2014 Aura is actual spring water. we used to get it delivered about 8 or 9 years ago as i recall. but i can't recommend the company as they are quite difficult to deal with, i.e. they [used to] only deliver every other Tuesday, if you are not home they won't leave it, drivers do not carry any change - you must have exact change only, changing your order to additional quantities or some large/some small bottles has to be done in writing to the company in Bangkok. and the water is expensive in comparison to the others. really a difficult approach to getting water. and to me it did not taste as good as other water. we also get Glacier and have been getting it for 8 years with no complaints. if you are not home they will leave water and collect the money the next week. easy to contact the driver by mobile and change the order any time. Then one day they said no more. There was around 30 cases in the building. The funny part is that there is a restaurant in the building that they still deliver to. Go Figure. We now use another company Pole Star and the management has taken care of the payments. Leave it at the desk and the management see's to it that it gets to your door 30 baht a case. So I only deal with the store. 20X1 litre costs me 35 baht - and we have two crates at a time, a new crate every one to two days - no deposit, but the delivery guy picks up the empties and drops off the new crate. I pay in advance at the shop, so change not an issue. A couple of times Glacier truck has been late or not turned up, store usually sends me a few bottles to tide me over . Very friendly and no having to deal with the company direct. Shops has dozens of crates delivered every day, so lots of people doing it and I guess they get a big enough discount that they can pass it on to us (apparently cheaper than a lot of you guys are getting it direct!). So, might be worth looking in local mon and pop stores and seeing if they do it - might save the hassle and cost of dealing direct! More likely with moo bahns than condos though I guess. If you ask them about them, they don't seem to know, so you have to look for them yourself. I was buying for a friend and had a photo to show them what he was looking for, but they still didn't know they had them. Also, I was told, and paid 42 thb for the case, so I'm wondering if they are charging more for condo delivery. I actually approached two guys sitting in a PoleStar truck in my area, and they didn't want anything to do with getting a new customer. If you divide 19 litres by 3.75 (US gallon) you'll find it's very close to 5 gallons, hence the non-metric size. Another mystery solved! Some parts of Asia only sell water in the clear bottles: I was a bit hesitant about using the white plastic, but I'm presuming it's food grade and ok. I do get it delivered - only it is indirect - truck drops off dozens of crates to the moo bahn store, guy in a moped from the shop then does his rounds (in the afternoon following his morning gas round ). No idea why it is only 35 when other pay 42+ guess its just because the shop gets a bulk deal - also this is in Hang Dong and the bottling plant is 10 minute walk away, so might be discount for locality too??? Just guessing really - price has not changed in two years I've been getting it - before then I had the big bottles.barrels (20+ litre) delivered, but that actually cost me more - and the lady at the store suggested I use the crates after I started buying half a dozen 5 baht single bottles each day from her instead. Incidentally I also get eggs there delivered from the farm for a lot less than 7-11 or Big-C and gas the same - there are 3 shops close to each other, but she does by far the best trade and is very friendly - I bought a bottle of Amaretto she had on her shelf (been there a decade !) when my mum came for xmas - thick with dust - still good though and less than it costs in the UK (actually was under ten quid!). masuk Posted February 24, 2015 Share Posted February 24, 2015 I've been using Glacier water for the past 2 years, and continued doing so as it's delivered to the condo, and for a few extra baht, staff deliver it to the rooms. Recently I've notice that some of the bottles are growing a green algae, and I just wonder how efficient their water purification system is, as well as Quality Control. I pay 40 baht per case (with 20 bottles) handled by the lobby. The last place I stayed at (about 6 months ago), it was 35 baht, but delivery limited to Fridays, so I’m thinking the previous place got a better deal because of buying in bulk. They were getting the glass from Bangkok, who will discontinue it. And they are going with a new 500ml plastic bottle. They won't cut us off immediately (early Jan 2016) but at some point they will stop doing glass. Sad to hear, and we will be trying out Dew Drop (or some similar name) soon. Will report back here. Their prices are similar on a per liter basis. BTW, prices had increased to 24 x 500ml = 60 THB plus a deposit on the bottles that was really expensive (something like 500 THB most recently?). They seem to be more organized than Glacier, and have actual drivers rather than the way Glacier uses third party independent drivers. In any case, I can't tell the difference in a blind taste test. (san sai) I might use them any deposit? could they deliver up to 100 bottles and do they just deliver just outside your place?
