webfact Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 Yingluck's lawyer seeks to delay presentation of defence by 45 daysThe NationBANGKOK: -- Caretaker Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra's lawyer Wednesday filed a request with the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) to defer the submission of her defence statement, which is due Friday, by 45 days. Yingluck faces charges of dereliction of duty over the rice-pledging scheme. The lawyer, Norawit Lalaeng, citing time constraints for the postponement, reasoned that he had obtained a copy of charges and evidence totalling 49 pages from the NACC only on Tuesday, which means he only had two days to study them.He also said the NACC should provide more information than what has been listed in the 49 pages because it was accusing Yingluck of committing a number of wrongdoings related to the scheme, ranging from distortion of market mechanisms to corruption at every process. He said he did not find any evidence for these charges. He said he had asked for additional evidence, but NACC officials told him that he was only allowed these 49 pages and nothing else.-- The Nation 2014-03-13
Popular Post chainarong Posted March 13, 2014 Popular Post Posted March 13, 2014 The great stalling tactic, bring on the case straight away as planned , there is nothing in this case that the PTP Administration needs time to prepare, after all there was no money allocated in the budget , it is simple as ABC, you conned the rice farmers , the weakest link in the chain, to get votes ,you used anticipated figures that never existed, except in thin air , face the music Caretaker P.M. Yingluck , simple. 5
tezzainoz Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 Funny there are many who stated they would just do this a month ago They twist and turn and use every concievable way to hold on and what is more unbelievable is their are many here on Thai Visa Forum that support them there is an old saying Rats when trapped stick together 1
JesseFrank Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 He said he had asked for additional evidence, but NACC officials told him that he was only allowed these 49 pages and nothing else. What he had expected, that NACC would present pleas and evidence on a silver platter for him, so that they destroy as much as possible before the court date ? 1
Popular Post AleG Posted March 13, 2014 Popular Post Posted March 13, 2014 She said the same thing to the office of the Ombudsman about two years ago regarding the illegally issued passport for her fugitive brother and the office is still waiting. 7
Popular Post Halion Posted March 13, 2014 Popular Post Posted March 13, 2014 She had her chance to appear at the hearing but choose not to and as such she herself has brought this to bear. No delays, show some teeth and throw the book at her and her greedy sycophantic lackeys. 6
bigbamboo Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 Forty five days to prepare a case against charges of which her lawyer can find no evidence? Either he's a crap lawyer or he's lying. 2
shiok Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 yeah right! she has to master her delivery for an Academy Award performance so she needs more time! ???
Soutpeel Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 Forty five days to prepare a case against charges of which her lawyer can find no evidence? Either he's a crap lawyer or he's lying. 45 days to buy a house in Dubai, prepare for the removal men to move all her furniture, find homes for the family pets, cancel the newspaper and milk delivery So many things to do when preparing to do a bunk from a country
Popular Post Crushdepth Posted March 13, 2014 Popular Post Posted March 13, 2014 Well why didn't Yingluck turn up to acknowledge the case and photocopy all the documents then, as the NACC originally asked and publicly warned her to do? 3
Brevity Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 I think Ms. Yingluck will be convicted in absentee like big brother. But she would really like an extra 45 days to pack up before moving to Dubai. After all, she bought a sh*t load of stuff during those 50 or 60 exotic shopping trips paid for by the taxpayers,
pkspeaker Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 She's not 'going to move to dubai' over this; it will get her a 5 year political ban and once under indictment she cannot be PM, better to stall this frivolous case at least until a new parliament is formed, that way we don't run into a constitutional crises when a caretaker PM is sacked, it will be much easier when the parliament can just elect a new PM during normal times.

Frivolous case? Are we still talking about the same case? The 700++ billion lost of rice scam case ? 1

"I can't acknowledge the murder charges because I am busy protesting" Well, Yingluck is busy too. God forbid this country has double standards.
Scamper Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 Indeed, Yingluck's lawyers' dropped the ball when they recommended that she not appear. By so doing she forfeited her right to the documents. She knew that. Her lawyers knew that. But they went ahead and did it anyway. But the NACC bent its own rules and gave her lawyers 49 pages. And of course, they say it's not enough ! So good for the NACC to clamp down on this. These are delaying tactics of the most transparent kind. By denigrating the NACC on facebook and by trying to get one of the members of the NACC impeached, Yingluck has shown not only a complete lack of respect for the NACC, but is openly trying to prevent it from doing its work. 2

Negligence = 5 year ban Corruption = 5+ years gaol 700 Bn baht..... I would say life sentence. People get 5 years for stealing 500 baht.
MunterHunter Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 She is delaying this so that the Vile Red Shirts can intimidate the NACC, she hopes that by the time her Red Dogs have finished their task the NACC will be too scared of them to continue with the case. She's already instructed them to increase the pressure on them today... ... then she has the gall to come out and ask for Sympathy. No Sympathy for the devil.
