Phuket Town Ghost Town

Featured Replies

As a 12-year resident of Phuket Town I have noticed it has been quieter over the past few days than I ever remember seeing it. Negligible traffic; even all the houses in my estate seem empty...I assume a lot of it has to do with the schools closing for the hot season break, but it still seems really quiet and I am wondering if I am overlooking any other possible causes...Just wondering if anyone else noticed this and, if so, whether they have other possible explanations...

School in Kata still open today. I drove into Phuket yesterday a couple of times (11.00 and 16.00) and thought it seemed a little quieter on the roads.

Some of the private schools are out. I won't say which ones, as I don't want this to turn into another "you don't love your child, if you don't send them to the most expensive international school on earth" thread. smile.png It was a pleasant drive to Big C today. The construction north of Tesco is a bit of a mess though.

nightclubs/pubs (thai-style) is boooooming in phuket town...

perhaps Phuket is dying the death it deserves.

Quiet in Phuket? Do that mean taxis and jet ski scammer's is out of work? clap2.gif

High tourism season slowly tapering off, will reflect on the traffic situation all over the island.
