Criminal Record Report

Featured Replies

I noticed in Phuket there are schools that want a criminal record report and if you decide to go to South Korea or China you need one as well.

Will the embassies help you with this. Fingerprints and such.

I did a search and a FBI check takes 26 days and $18 to complete in the US. Anyone have advice or experience with this?

The US embassy will provide you with the finger print cards. You then have to go to the police clearance center at the special branch police office in Bangkok for the fingerprints to be done.

Some schools will also want a police check from your home country.

For the US many people get one from their local sherrifs department.

Different cuntries have different requirements so always best to check with your embassy or check the webiste of your police force.

All I can say about it is that the process isn't fun to complete from Thailand. I had to do it before going to work in Korea for a year. I was all over the place. Eventually, I got it all sorted out, Apostille and all. It did take some time. I did mine through the State of Maryland where I lived because it was faster. However, now I think they want and FBI Check for Korea which takes a bit more time. Good luck!

I downloaded the fingerprint card and got the prints done at the local police station, cost 50 baht. Sent evrything to the FBI and got the report back in about 4 weeks. They even forgot to debit my credit card the $18, but that was back in 2005.
