I have to admit, I did not read all the previous posts. I hope this is not a repeat. This smacks of the Red Army on training maneuvers. Practice at home first , before the show goes on the road to Bangkok.

Sadly I think you had better strap yourself in for the ride. The idiots on both sides aren't going to be put back in the box any time soon.

Yes,...the trend towards hate has been deeply media-ted through partisan sources. Buddhism is leaving the Kingdom.

"Do not accept anything by mere tradition. . . Do not accept anything just because it accords with your scriptures. . . Do not accept anything merely because it agrees with your preconceived notions, nor upon rumor." Kalama Sutra

Since November I've searched for a kernel of honesty in the Anti-Government propaganda,...but the bottom line continues to be the rhetoric that they don't like Yingluck because her brother "really" runs the government, without ever showing any proof,...while continually demanding that the country’s freely chosen government step down, and that their unelected council take its place.

My only surprise has been the restraint of the Red Shirts.

My question,...how is this going to affect the tourist and expat community in CM. Are condo prices about to fall?

Thank you Mr Suthep for bringing the violence to Thailand.

I beg your pardon?

Mr Suthep brought violence to Thailand?

Short memory?

2006, 2010, amd then since?

Suthep?

Or redshirts, geared up for violence by their "leaders"

Some call that restraint............

I do wonder how the memorycells of some people seem to work.

Sort of.

Well, I already have wife and nice house for the past 5+ years, so condo prices don't really concern me. But the baht falling more would definitely be a worthwhile consideration. whistling.gif

The owner of the pump station is (was) supporter of the opposition.

Suthep blocked the Shin Business, this is the answer (grenades, killing intention)

I don't know if this is true,

but do you think

throwing bombs is an adequate answer to blocking a business ?

I look what police in their statement said. The other target was a shop with Singha connections.

...so is this the blue shirts - whos side are they on...?

Oh wait... There own of course!

The Yellows think it's the Reds, the Reds think it's the Yellows.....

Pathetic!

ptt is a target for suthep's mob in bkk, so possibility, that's why they were chosen as the first to attack. Extremely dangerous, as an explosion of fuel and gas could have killed tens/hundreds of staff, customers and locals

Really what did the reds say they would do if the courts ruled against them...bomb banks gasstations etc. Boonrawd is Singha owned business they sponsored the anti government protesters...and then Andaman seafood restaurant my guess its owned by southern people living in CM...ochams razor stipulates the simplest explanation is probably the correct one...CM is Redshirt stronghold they have wast amount of weapons there...anit red businesses and a gasstation get bombed who did it? UDD...United front for Dictatorship against Democracy.

Thank you Mr Suthep for bringing the violence to Thailand.

Mr Suthep seems to be the only person who has enough b***s to try and save this country from the tyranny of the tacky shin family. You should be grateful that such a person exists :) and for your info, the government supporters are the ones who have had a near monopoly on violence here against anyone who does not agree with their warped sense of democracy !

There goes the holiday in Chiang Mai....

Literally, in my case. I had convinced my wife to go to Thailand if we minimized our time in Bangkok. Now this . . .

Sadly we'll stick to Laos and Cambodia. I feel sorry for the average Thai who has to endure the consequences of sociopathic behavior of the few.

Logic would dictate that these were caused by anti-government supporters in the supposedly "Red Stronghold". However, this is Thailand, where "logic" has no bearing, so who knows?

But living in CM, this is something I've been expecting to happen, so it's not exactly a surprise.

Edit for Typo

There is logic, if you can call it logic, coming from the red leaders heads.

They are trying to create headlines and get sympathy from the Thai people.

They have no morals and they are criminals.

And they will carry on and on...........don't expect the police to identify them.

I suppose you made a mistake.......I'm sure you are talking about the "yellows"

I see that a couple of little ol' bombings did not distract you from slipping in a bit of gratuitous Thai bashing.

you cant rule out that maybe its a classic red flag thingy:
Red shirts put a few bombs in their own Red Shirt City to anger all the red shirts and blame the yellow shirts,, to help them gain support to come to bangkok and and take to the streets.

maybe they are just trying to gather people to whirl up support.

red flags are one of the most effective ways to get sheep-people to follow a power-obsessed leader.

it does not mean that I am favoring suthep either!! I reckon that he also would do no less!! (and then do some 'wai' poses with a smile to all the cameras).

both sides are wolves in the sheeps clothing.,

The best most balanced rational posting on this subject matter so far. I couldn’t agree more, this series of bombings has been the same as if stirring up a hornets nest.

King Arthur: The Lady of the Lake, her arm clad in the purest shimmering samite held aloft Excalibur from the bosom of the water,

With everything going on its becoming more apparent that the red shirts with thaksin or even some of sutheps group of people are becoming insurgents and resorting to many types of insurgency attacks. Expect more civilian casualties ahead as well as guerilla warfare as well. Doubtful well see suicide bombers when things get worse but highly likely more grenades and bombs set off as access to weapons appears easy to get.

Wish everyone stay safe and hope Thais avoid civil war

Thai Bashing. That's almost funny coming from someone with as few posts as you have. Only been in Thailand a few weeks? Wait till you've been here a few YEARS, like many of us, and you will realize that Thai and Logic are not words used in the same sentence. Unless it is something like - "Thai have no logic", or "Thai don't know the meaning of logic." It's not bashing when you state the blatant obvious to anyone with at least 2 active brain cells. Don't get me wrong, I love the Thai people, but they are simplistic, brainwashed in their thinking, and simple logic and comprehensive thinking eludes all but a few of them.

Smog, bombs..... God, it's enough to make one have a week on the beach.

Oh, wait! We left CM for the clean air on the beach already...... ???

life's a [beach], for sure.

Returning from Mae On this evening, I noticed 2 big Red Shirt parties. Hundreds of people and thousand of beer bottles. Big stage and security agents. Jatuporn is the leader now so prepare yourself for some stupid fireworks and other nice RS tactics like burning.

Wow, Costas, you solved the case already, huh? You could make money from the BIB with your consultancy services. Your hypthosesis is a little convoluted, but still, you're obviously convinced by it, and that's half the battle, right? Maybe you could write some fiction on the side...

He blames it squarely on the 'red shirts' and you call that balanced?? Someone needs to buy a dictionary.

"Red flag thingy"?? Perhaps before you start with the tinfoil-hat-theories, you should get your terminology right. I presume you mean false flag "thingy"....

thank you for correcting me... Yes,, False Flag.

in the english language, one says: "thingy" for an unspecific thing.

as I couldnt remember the correct name (at the time of writing), I put "thingy"...

i am pretty sure that everyone who reads it knows what I am talking about...

and understanding is often more important than the actual written words.

but I do find it a bit immature when someone tries to belittle a valid comment (as you have done).

i can remember me and my sister (when we were kids) pretending to be hurt,, so we could get the other one in trouble.

me blaming her for doing something she didnt do.. and then pulling faces at her behind mums back as she was getting told off..

I was 8 or 10 years old!!!!!

if me and my sister (and almost all children on earth) do this as kids... then try amplifying it to an adult educated level!!!

and thats your "false flag"!!

completely valid.

i suppose you also think that every government is perfect too???

dont criticize those to make effort to expose the people that are in power.

they are not so squeaky clean as you imagine.

give power to anyone,, and somewhere down the line it gets corrupted.

The Russian revolution is a perfect example.

if you think you live in a perfect world where the governments dont do false flags and lie through their teeth for hidden agendas, then I pity your way of thinking.

you would be a perfect person (in the governments eyes). so you can wear a sheep costume, while I wear my tin hat (if we are to go for the cliches) smile.png

Any updates on the police investigation? In the west, throwing a grenade would get huge attention until it gets resolved. Seems like grenade attacks here in Thailand are becoming all too common with arrests being rare.
