Posted this in Bangkok forum but didn't get much response. So..I live in BKK and was thinking of getting away from the city for Songkran and was toying with the idea of heading to Krabi. I have seen coaches to Krabi for relatively cheap. Just wondered where anyone could recommend for staying there that's good value? Also my first time here while Songkran is happening. Is Songkran celebrated much in Krabi or not? :)

I was in Ao Nang for Songkran a few years ago and it was a one day affair back then. Not sure how many days it goes on for now. If you were to go to one of the nearby beaches (Railey or Tonsai) you can get away from it altogether. Railey Beach is more expensive than Tonsai and is aimed more at package holiday makers. Tonsai is aimed at backpackers and climbers. Atmosphere is more relaxed, has beach bars and beer is reasonably priced.

Last year songkran was just 1 day in Ao Nang.

You can get nice hotel or guest house accommodation for 1000-1500 per night.
