Banharn: election is solution to country's rift

BANGKOK, 24 March 2014 (NNT) - The Chief Advisor to the Chart Thai Pattana Party CTP) has asserted that an election is the only way out of the country’s problems.

Teera Wongsamut, the leader of the CTP Party, and Banharn Silpa-archa, the party’s chief-advisor, as well as other top-ranking party members yesterday attended the party general meeting; during which they analyzed the party’s financial statements and business report for the 2013 fiscal year. The meeting came up with no changes to the party’s Board of Directors.

According to Banharn, there are at present no clear solutions to the country’s problems after the Constitution Court has nullified the February 2nd general election. He himself has not proposed anything yet, as the CTP Party is still unable to figure out which direction the country will go.

Having an election is the only way out for this country; however, that won’t happen anytime in the near future, given the Democrat Party has once again threatened to boycott the polls, said Banharn.

He asserted that the Democrats played an important role in deciding the fate of the country, adding that if every political party participated in the general election, then the country’s problems would ease to a certain extent.

Mr. Barnharn also brushed aside rumors that he would accept the role of the “Neutral” Prime Minister. Even if approached, he would turn down the proposal, saying he was not ready for the job, adding that whoever was assigned the task would be put in a precarious position.

Behind the Pheu Thai party as the CTP is only a minority partner in the "currently unknown status" Pheu Thai led coalition government.

As soon as the election of 2011 took place, a sea of people - including Banharn - went to see Thaksin. Just seven days after Yingluck was elected, she denied it had anything to do with the composition of the cabinet, and continued to deny that Thaksin's interests were being addressed. And yet here we are - three years later - and the same denials from Yingluck and Pheu Thai. The very same assertions. Before the 2011 election, they were -

- Thaksin has nothing to do with anything, and has nothing to do with anything, and will have nothing to do with anything. We want true reform that will unite the country. We want to do away with corruption for all time. Vote for us, please, and this time we'll really deliver. Really.

So Thaksin has now asked Banharn to make this statement. Thaksin wants back in the saddle, it is true. But at least he's given his cousin Surapong a rest. Those press conferences were putting even him to sleep.

If you were riddled with uncurable cancer and in a hell of a lot of pain you might want to take the job on, because it would be a quick way to end your misery.

Banharn is concerned with one thing.

How much money can he pocket if he was in power.

Remember his comments concerning being an opposition M.P.? No money in that post.

Banharn has been around forever, including being a PM.

He's whiter than the whitest snow ... or not ...

Banharn was the PM in 1997 when the Thai baht crashed.

Thaksin was also in the government at that time.

No, that was the equally inept Chavalit Yongchaiyuth, I'm afraid, another dinosaur. Bahnharn was PM from 1995 to 1996.

What kind of stupid idiot is this person?

An election was just voided by the courts

so how will another go around help?

An incomplete election was voided. CC ruled that the constitutional way forward is a new election. Keep up with the news.

Stood in the elections last month, people would have voted for them, deluded fools, thinking that democracy is any part of Thailand's glorious future!

Banharn will sway with anyone who makes sure his party is in government. No loyalty to anything especially the people who vote for him. Ah well unless you live in Supanburi. There you ll see a useless 6 lane road as if its the center of the universe. What isn t emphasized enough by anyone is that changes mainly need to be made because of the constituencies that have been adjusted to suit phue thai. There was no landslide victory the difference in popular vote was only 13%. That s what makes lots of people angry as it is not reflected in government.

Why was it incomplete? What will change with a new election?
