Hi Guys, I'm still new to this but read TV every day.

I want to match a paint colour and need to find a shop that can mix the colour (gloss or acrylic) in Lamphun or Chiang Mai area, anybody know of such a shop please?

Even Walmarts have the scanner devise that will give you an amazingly close match. You need a piece about 1 inch square. Home Bro must have the same thing or Baan and Beyond. I just painted my condo with thai paint...140 thb per gallon, at the local mom pop hardware. Very good paint, IMO...urai Paints....just add a tiny bit of water, when it is hot.

Its quite easy if you have the lid of some that was used before. The mix numbers will be printed on it (I am assuming emulsion here)

Then go to the big stores or any number of Jomtum stores and they can mix the same.

Whilst the above suggestion (scanner) is clever, its not so good if your paint is already on a wall and had faded to a pastel shade over the last few years.

Sometimes its easier at the jomtum places to pick up a batch of colour shade cards and take them home and offer them up against the original and then decide yourself what to have.

Go back to the store with your quantity in gallons and they will mix for you.

For numbers and color selection; I use www.benjaminmoore.com You can even upload a photo of your room and it will show you what the new paint will look like. I take their numbers to HomeDepot, and they easily mix me a batch in their brand saving $$$, because the BM paints are expensive. You could probably do that here, but I honestly don't know how universal the numbers actually are. Usually two sets of four digit #s in the us, but mine was a single five digit with the thai paint. There are at least five colors for every paint..wet. dry. old, on the screen, and nicostained...and the sample swatch is even different. A stripper once asked me about my prolonged house painting job.."you painting a Corvette or a 70 yo house." One color of fresh paint is usually a big improvement.

Acrylic paint is fast-drying paint containing pigment suspension in acrylic polymer emulsion. So Arcrylic is an emulsion.

Jotum is a major brand of paint sold in Thailand. You need to go to Home Pro and to the big Home Mart called Noppadon Panich to see what they have and learn what they can do for you. The bs on this thread about USA paint numbers, Home Depot and Walmart is not relevant here, they do not exist here.

Ironically, it is sold by the US Gallon, lol. Auto paint numbers certainly are universal, but as stated not sure about house paint. Finish does not affect color, but does affect the mix...flat and semi-gloss are two examples.

If it is for a repair forget about it, unless you have the color code of the original paint, and it was not a mixed color in the first place. If so repaint the entire wall.

If it is to paint an adjunct wall in an almost identical color, every half decent paint shop will be able to mix it for you, if you're able to take a sample of the original with you
