Extension of tourist visa, what is required

Featured Replies

I know that a 60 day tourist visa can be extended by 30 days by paying 1900THB.

However I would be grateful if someone could tell me what form, supporting paperwork and photos are required by immigration.

I would also be grateful if someone could tel me how soon before the expiration of the current 60 day can can one apply for the extension.

I will be doing the extension at Phuket if that makes any difference.

Also are what are the closest other immigrations offices to Phuket where I could go to do the extension...as the Phuket office is a zoo at this time of year.

You will complete and attach a photo to Extension of Temporary Stay in The Kingdom Application Form (TM. 7) (print two sided).

Copies of passport photo page, visa, entry/permit to stay stamp and TM6 departure card. Cost is 1900 baht.

You can do it a couple of weeks early.

I don't think there is an immigration office close enough to Phuket to justify the trip to avoid a busy immigration office. Plus you would need a local address to put on the TM7 form for wherever you went.

Two immigration offices one in Phuket town the other on the Beach Rd. in Patong

My wife and I did a 30-day extension at Phuket Town yesterday.

It was crowded but the immigration people were efficient and helpful.

There are two helpful western assistants who help smooth the process.

I'd go there - it only took us 40-60 mins and was no stress.

Were you served by one of the immigration officers at the front row of desks, or did you have to deal with the <deleted> at the back row. Also, did you have to get a ticket and wait...

Front row.

We arrived without passport and visa copies and without photos.

The helpful western guys filled in the forms for us (cool!) and sent us downstairs to get photocopies and photos. (B100 for 8 photos and photocopies B2 each).

No problems and no sign of right-wing tendencies anywhere in the building.
