Dear UbonJoe,

Based on the above posts/replies is my understanding correct that it would be possible to stay here for 1 year (someone mentioned 15 months?) on the basis of non-o based on marriage but WITHOUT actually applying for the extension and doing 90 day border runs? (effectively having 12 months to sort out the extension).

You could get a ,multiple entry non-o visa based upon marriage in Savannakhet (not possible in Vientiane) that would give you unlimited 90 day entries for a year. By doing an entry just before the visa expires you can get almost 15 months of total stay from the visa.

You could apply for the one year extension during the last 30 days of any of the 90 day entries from the visa.

Has anyone had recent experience of this?

You have been given incorrect info.

If true there would of been reports of it on this forum and there have been none.

I was there last week, same procedure as last time.

just got back this morning.

 

got non O, no problems but neither i nor my travel partner were allowed to apply for Multiple entrys. we were told, Single entry only...

 

Application + fee (2000thb)

Passport (orig & copy)

Childs Birth cert.  (orig & copy)

Tabian Baan (orig & copy)

Mothers ID (copy only)

Visa request letter from mother (orig)

 

Opened at 09:00 (sign says 08:30)

 

Picked up next day at 14:00

From where?

Vientiane does not issue multiple entry visas. Savannakhet will only issue them if married to a Thai.

Sorry for the delayed answer.. Yes multiple entry visa issued on April 19th.
