Lite Beer Posted April 3, 2014 Share Posted April 3, 2014 North, northeast residents warned of heat wave, thunderstormsThe Nation The Meteorological Department Thursday warned people in the north and northeastern provinces to brace themselves for a heat wave and thunderstorms.In its latest weather advisory announcement, the department said very hot weather and thunderstorms would be caused by a strong high pressure ridge over upper Vietnam that will extend to cover upper Thailand Thursday afternoon.Moreover, a westerly trough would move from Myanmar to the North and the Northeast between April 4 and 7, resulting in summer thunderstorms and isolated hail in upper Thailand.The areas most likely be affected are:April 3-4: Nong Khai, Bueng Kan, Nakhon Phanom, Sakon Nakhon, Mukdahan, Khon Kaen, Maha Sarakham, Kalasin, Roi Et, Yasothon, Amnat Charoen and Ubon Ratchathani.April 4-5: Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Phayao, Lamphun, Lampang, Nan, Phrae, Tak, Sukhothai, Kamphaeng Phet, Phitsanulok, Uttaradit, Phichit, Phetchabun, Loei, Chaiyaphum, Si Saket, Surin, Buri Ram, Nakhon Ratchasima, Nakhon Sawan, Lop Buri, Saraburi, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, Chai Nat, Kanchanaburi, Suphan Buri, Nakhon Nayok, Prachin Buri, Sa Kaeo, Chachoengsao, Chon Buri, Rayong, Chanthaburi, Trat, Bangkok and its vicinity.April 6-7: Loei, Nong Khai, Bueng Kan, Nong Bua Lamphu, Udon Thani, Khon Kaen, Chaiyaphum and Nakhon Ratchasima.The department said the low pressure over the Malaca Strait would also bring abundant rain to southern Thailand's west coast on April 3-4. -- The Nation 2014-04-03 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Thunder off in the distance but no rain.
