sandmonster
Can anyone recommend a good water tank and pump specialist with a good range and reliable after sales service. Looking to install one in a new mooban house in chiangmai very soon, off the 118 near Sansai. I would prefer to use a specialist rather than the general guys at Homepro , global etc. Thanks in advance.
HullyGully
Try Grundfos Pumps, I have a couple of their pumps, and no issues In Chiang Mai call Pisuit 0864309247 he speaks English He has a shop about 3 doors before Tesco on the Super Highway Their Company does domestic and industral pumps / maintenance
worgeordie
Theres a very good shop on Charoenrat road, near Rimping Condo. thats all they specialist in ,they have shop with wide selection of pumps and on the other side lots of different sizes of water tanks. Over the years I have bought, had repaired a few pumps by them, they have been their a long time, and are reliable, they will advise what size pump and tank you will need, and install it all very quickly. Its a very good idea to get a tank and pump, as i predict there is a very good chance of a water shortage this dry season, due to lack of rain this last wet season. regards Worgeordie

cmsally
The one on Charoenrat Rd is "Ang Thong" Very good service and after sales service. However they don't have the higher end such as Grundfos (at least didn't have them last year when I was there). We bought a Grundfos pump on the Hang Dong Rd (sorry can't remember name of place . Past Big C on the right as you head south.
Bill97
Pump, pressure tank and storage tank are the minimum. Might need filter too. Lanalatic on Chotana knows water quality in different areas so can advise on filters and can bid the whole package. Plumb in a bypass that you can open to allow the prapaa (city) water to enter the house if you have a pump problem or no electricity.
sandmonster
cheers for the advice. I am considering an above ground storage tank and constant pressure pump. Its a pretty standard project house 220sqm. Biil, why do you think I need a pressure tank and filter ? How big and how much ballpark ? I am gonna have a filter system for a drinking water tap in kitchen. Yes the bypass and check valve i am aware of.

worgeordie
Hi Sandmoster,if you are going to use the water for drinking I strongly advise, you get a system with RO and UV light, and they must be maintained, and filters lamp changed on a regular basis,as you don't know what happens to the water on its way to you from the water plant,on 1 MooBahn i have seen pipes laid in the drainage channels where overflow from the septic tanks also flows into,as an example. regards Worgeordie

HullyGully
Yep, I also use a 6 stage RO system with UV for all my drinking water In general the government water isn't bad, I get reading of say 60PPM, however you could have bacteria in the water

Called the number shown here for Lana Litic +66 53 214 569 and no answer - perhaps they are out of business or moved? We are located just south of the Chiang Mai Gate area, any suggestions? thanks for any assistance with recommended company/person/phone#. sandmonster
Well it was 18 months ago I started this thread and thanks for those that recommended "Ang Thong". This is a long overdue review and thanks to those that gave me advice. They were as competent and professional as any company I dealt with during the new house fit out process. This is an 18 months on update... The boss spoke excellent English, drew out the diagram to confirm it had everything I was recommended to watch out for. They recommended a Kikawa 400 pump with a separate bladder pressure tank ( think its 40 or 50l ) . Kikawa is Taiwanese but claimed it was the quietest and most reliable they fitted blah blah. Certainly the build quality looked way better than the mitsubishi and hitachi stuff in Homepro. They set the system up with a pressure guage I could watch. It comes on when pressure drops below x and stops when it reaches y to fill up the pressure tank, running into a 1000l storage tank I bought from Homepro myself. All perfect for even 2 rain showers at same time. They weren't kidding ! That pump is damn quiet too. A different league quieter than all my neighbours Mitsu and Hitachis. Honestly have never heard it from the other side of the wall. I asked them about annual servicing, they said no need, just call us if anything goes wrong. I also decided I didn't wanna follow the "ferang abroad" route and go all out on the RO UV XYZ multi stage filters. If 60m Thais aren't dropping dead from the water then I shouldn't. I fitted an off the shelf Steibel 4 stage filter under the drinking tap in the kitchen. It tastes great and I have never felt healthier in my life drinking and cooking with the stuff. So 18 months later, the Kikawa has never missed a beat. I only go to check and admire the chunky brass valves / taps they put in, the precision and neatness of the pipework once a while. A thing of beauty ! My neighbours tell me the mains water goes off sometimes and pressure I am told is terrible at times, but I am lucky enough not to experience any of that yet. Fingers cross for next 18 months... Ang Thong... a job very well done. Kikawa, never heard of it before but great engineering.
Greenside
Very helpful to come back and report to wind the thread up - very few people remember and it really helps if you're researching something later. I'll add this supplier to my map when I have time.
