Windshield (windscreen) Repair Outfits

Featured Replies

I have a small star fracture in my windshield. I am looking for an outfit that can repair that, like Novus in the US. If anyone can recommend an outfit that can do this, preferably in BKK or even better near the airport, I would be grateful.

If you're unhappy about this small blemish on your windscreen, why not fit a new one? A new windscreen is so cheap in Thailand. For example, I had a new screen (large one at that) fitted to my Mitsubishi G-Wagon at a modest cost of 1,700 baht. Obviously, I had to fit some tint film to it also but that was only a few baht.

From my experience of windscreen "repairs", they are never very satisfactory and can be even more disfiguring than the original blemish.

I think a new windscreen for a Volvo would be quite a bit more, but I will check on that. Parts for Volvo's are generally higher than Japanese vehicles. I would be willing to give the repair a try since it probably won't be that much. If it doesn't work out there is always the new windscreen option. Right now it is pretty tiny and not a big deal, but they can enlarge over time due to expansion/contraction.

Cut and pasted from a previous post I sent some time back , NOTE not that far from the airport

If your screen is actually scratched you can get it repaired easily I had a bad stone chip with 3/4inch starring on my Toyota Wish , just off my line of vision and I had a sucessfull repair with specialised resin injection, it is now not noticable from inside and only from the outside if you know where to look .

I had it repaired at a specialist windscreen repairer in MACRO car park at MACRO CHAENG WATTANA ... it cost 1000 baht and took 1 hour . Whilst there I saw some serious cracks being repaired on other cars and an excellent job done on scratches made by windscreen wipers .. by now you may have actually scratched the surface and resin bonding may be the answer . I avoid the sticky tree sap problem by using Rain Off on the windscreen a silcone coating you apply once a month ( turtle wax make one type ) and I also add this to the washer bottle to top up the treatment . It is extremely effective and the water balls up and blows off the screen like water off a ducks back or for Thailand water off a Lotus Leaf .

Good Luck !

Hi Everyone,

I know a guy who is doing windshield repairs in Pattaya. You can call him an make an appointment. He makes on-site repairs including stone chips and cracks.

I found him on google typing in: windshield repair thailand. He made my car very nicely and cheap (500 Baht for a small stone chip). His number is: 08 22 00 7136

Often he does not answer it, but always calls back.

Good luck.
