BANGKOK, April 7 – The scheduled maintenance of a natural gas platform in the Gulf of Thailand this month will not disrupt the power supply to the public and industrial sector, according to PTT Plc.

Chakree Buranakanon, PTT senior executive vice-president, said power reserve at the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand will be sufficient for domestic consumption during the annual maintenance between April 10-27.

Natural gas from eastern and northeastern platforms will be supplied in addition to compensate the loss of 630 cubic fee/day during the 17-day suspension of gas production at the Bongkot platform, he said.

In addition to that, fuel reserve, including 130 million litres of bunker oil and 550 million cubic feet/day of liquefied natural gas, will be available to ensure sufficient supply, he said, adding that fuel consumption during the Songkran period is normally lower than other periods.

He said the temporary closure of the Bongkot platform will not affect supply to NGV gas stations. (MCOT online news)

That is only the living quarters. Turn around 180 deg and it will be different.

Just for a laugh look where the emergency escape vessels are. Straight in the path of any blast from the production platform, normally they are put behind the buildings for blast/jet fire protection. Scary.

Cheers

Better blame the froggies for that one , believe this is quite an old picture of orginal Bongkot LQ and a Total design, also think British Gas had a hand in its design as well...thumbsup.gif

Must be nearly 13 years since I have been on there, but if memory serves, the bridge, (a long one), intersects the production platfrom at the corner, and the LQ end of the production platform only has auxillary equipment facing the LQ, the "blasty" bits are down the other end, therefore any possible gas explosions would be away from the LQ... biggrin.png
