Air Conditioners

I'm looking for A/C for the house and I've noticed a big difference in prices for the same size BTU's.

I've see units claiming that they clean the air and I'm wondering if its worth paying the extra money for those features.

We don't have asthma or breathing difficulties and in Ubon i don't find the air particularly dirty. Plus I would imagine that as long as you can open the windows at some time you'll change the air.

Do any of you believe the extra features are worth the extra cost?

Then there is the question of buying an inverter or not. I'm still not sure they are worth the extra cost and what the pay back period is in energy savings.
