Picking up on a passing remark in an earlier thread (Ubonjoe) - "avoid applying on Monday or Wednesday" Are these just the busier days or is there something more fundamental. (Before confirming travel plans.) Thanks.

Sounds like a great piece of advice to have been given. Many thanks.

Biggest day to avoid is Friday, as you need an overnight stay to collect the next day BUT Sat/Sun closed meaning you would have to wait until Monday to collect back your passport.

Monday is always a no go--workers-1st day of the week to travel for many.

Tuesday 8am Wednesday 8am my best days.

Thursdays is a no as this is the last day you can apply then collect Friday --last minute peoples day.

Avoid the 9-30 rush at Laos border if it happens to be busy you have to run to the Consulate quick as it closes at 11-am for applications.

When you collect the Consulate NOW opens at 13-30 it was 13-00. be near the gate before 1 pm or you will be queuing in a 30 meter queue.

At the Thai consulate, get your numbered ticket first thing....go all the way to the front and get your number. The first time there, I sat like a dummy, filling out the forms, getting photos and copies, but never got that damn number. Wasted at least an hour. That was a few years dumber ago.
