My husband & I (UK citizens) have lived here for 2 1/2 yrs on retirement visas, with the required

800,00baht in the bank. As we are now in our 70s we would like to utilise this money.

Can anyone tell us-

Is it legal to get a tourist visa & do a monthly visa run to a border.

If it is legal will we be able to go from retirement visa to tourist visa without problems.

Thanks in advance

Although you could probably do this it would be an added expense of about 4,000 baht per month from many places if you are talking about 30 day stay and monthly visa runs for the two of you. Also you could be told no at any time as this is sometimes considered an abuse of the 30 day entry without visa provision. Can you not find a better way?

How do you support your stay here? If you have income that you can have documented by your embassy you would not need the full 800k in your bank account so you might check into that. As for the 800k you now have in the bank you are supposed to utilize that money but have it topped up to the 800k mark each year when you extend your stay. During the year you are free to use that money.
