Featured Replies

Has anyone experience with taking a cellphone back to the States, and sucessfully using it?

Just have to use a GSM carrier...for me its T-mobile.

Okay, thanks, so ...

Do you use the/a SIM?

I'm not staying a year, probably four or five months. Is there a contract, or can you pay as you go?

Other terms?

My current phone is shot, and I'm not returning for a few more months, so need to buy one soon.

EDIT: Is your phone from LOS, or USA?

Check out the T-mobile site (and I believe AT&T is also a GSM carrier) for the no-contract rates.

I usually go back to the States for less than a month and get the unlimited 4G no contract which costs $70/month....you get a T-mobile sim card and new number.

I pay cash ....so when I leave I just toss the sim card and put back in my DTAC sim for use in Thailand.

My phone was bought here in Thailand (so its unlocked and as said, never had a problem using in the US)

Good info!

Do you use it for calling back to LOS?

You can ....I don't as WAY too expensive if you call directly

What I do is to buy a international Calling card (usually available at Walgreen's, CVS or most liquor stores) for $10 so you call a local number, put in the code from the card, and dial your international number. For the $10 you get about 1000 minutes of talk time.

I have a Samsung Ace 3 and use it in the US, UK and Vietnam. I just get a local pay-as-you-go sim. In the US I use T-Mobile. Works fine.
