April 16, 201412 yr Hi All, For the last 2 months my voice has sounded like Bonnie Tyler as soon as I open doors & windows or am out and about. While i'm in the house my voice isn't too bad but I cannot describe it as normal. There is no pain whatsoever but i'm at a loss as to what the cause is or what to do about it.I had throat surgery a few years ago after my throat had been badly damaged <botched intubation!>3 years earlier during what should have been an unrelated routine hernia op (2007). 2x nodes were removed from my vocal chords and my false vocal was removed. I had been in extreme pain for those three years but have had none since the throat surgery in 2010. My own personal diagnosis is that: a) Since the operation I have become susceptible to pollen ("hay fever"), indeed I often take anti histamine after a family member suggested it has helped him for decades. I also gargle in salt water or cider vinegar if necessary. b ) Reflux was suggested/checked at the time. I'm now starting to look at this again... c ) There seems to be a connection to aircon & fans, particularly while sleeping or driving. If anyone has experienced similar & has any ideas i'd love to hear from you. I neither drink or smoke. Edited April 16, 201412 yr by evadgib
April 16, 201412 yr I don't know but would suggest you see a good ENT for starters. i have found Prof. Songklot at St Louis to be very thorough. http://www.saintlouis.or.th/clinic/doctor.php?dr_id=272
April 19, 201412 yr Author Thanks Sheryl, I'm currently on a course of meds & will see an ENT specialist if they don't work. I found this link useful: http://www.healthcentral.com/encyclopedia/408/86.html Edited April 19, 201412 yr by evadgib
