I have a Windows 8 non-touch screen laptop using "Classic Shell" to give me a Win-7 environment.

If I download the latest Windows 8.1.1 update will I loose Classic Shell and have to re-install it?

No you'll be OK. I installed Classic Shell from day 1 & it's still there and working when you update to Windows 8.1

I found that I needed to reset the Classic Shell options on updating to 8.1 in order for it to work correctly.

Also there are some extra options to select in 8.1.
