Myanmar expects 5 million visitors in 2015 - report

YANGON, 17 April 2014: Myanmar President Thein Sein says the country will welcome 5 million international tourists during 2015.

President Thein Sein told local media that global tourism associations are now recognising the country as a top emerging destination. He did not identify specific organisations.
“Tourism will expand from 3 million trips to Myanmar by the end of 2014 to 5 million in 2015,” he said.
Myanmar has been nominated for the European Tourism Association’s list of world’s top destinations this year. It will figure on a list of emerging destinations that are making their mark in international tourism.
