I currently have a job offer in BKK that i will be taking up early next month. I was told that need to apply for a Non-Immigrant B visa before my arrival and the company will take care of the rest.

My question is, if I opt for a Single Entry visa instead of a Multiple Entry visa before my arrival will this carry on after I have gotten my extension and work permit, and as such i would need to apply for a re-entry permit every time I leave the Kingdom.

Basically i am just trying to determine if there is any benefit in getting a Multiple Entry over Single Entry in this instance. I do not plan on leaving Thailand for at least 3 months.

Any advise would be much appreciated.

A multiple entry visa would mean doing border runs every 90 days.

If you get an extension of stay you cannot use the visa because as soon as you did it your extension would no longer be valid because it would give you a new permit to stay date.

You can get single (1000 baht) or multiple re-entry permits (3800 baht). If you plan on doing several trips the multiple would be the best choice.

If you get a Single Entry Non Immigrant 'B' Visa then it is good for one entry to Thailand within the 'Enter Before' period; if you need to leave Thailand within the Permission to Stay Period (up to the 'Admitted Until' date stamped in your passport) then a Re-Entry Permit purchased at Immigration in Thailand will preserve that exit date.

A Multiple Entry Non Immigrant 'B' Visa is good for each entry to Thailand within the 'Enter Before' period on your visa; each time you will get a new 90 day Permission to Stay stamped into your passport.

Either way, if you subsequently get an Extension of Permission to Stay based on Working in the Kingdom of Thailand, it will run from the current 'Admitted Until' date in your passport for one year; if you need to leave Thailand within this one year Permission to Stay Period (up to the 'Admitted Until' date stamped in your passport) then a Re-Entry Permit purchased at Immigration in Thailand will preserve that exit date.

On an Extension of Permission to Stay, every time you remain inThailand for more than 90 days you must report your address to your local Thai Immigration Dept.

Leave Thailand on a Re-entry Permit, then the 90 day Report 'clock' is reset to zero when you re enter Thailand within the validity period of the Single/Multiple Re-Entry Permit, whose validity period matches your Permission to Stay dates.
