April 24, 201412 yr Hi Everyone, Does anyone know where there is an English language test centre in Chiang Mai that the UK Government approves, I am trying to find one for my wife's long term visa to the UK all help appreciated
April 24, 201412 yr I would suggest contacting the British Consulate in Chiang Mai - I'm sure they'll have the details - however, given that all visa processing is centralised in Bangkok, it wouldn't surprise me to find out that there is no centre in chiang mai and that you'll have to of to Bangkok
April 24, 201412 yr British Council (next to the consulate) do IELTS testing - but I don't know what test is required for the visa. IELTS is normally for studying in UK.
April 24, 201412 yr The UK government has in the past year increased the requirements for security around these tests. This is thanks to some rogue centres having organised mass cheating sessions. If anyone in Chiang Mai meets these new requirements, British Council will know.
April 24, 201412 yr Author Many Thanks for your replies , I think I'll start with the British Council
April 24, 201412 yr I thought the test centres were in bkk,or that is where you take the test I believe.this is from what some friends have done to complete the test
April 24, 201412 yr from what some friends have done they did the test in bkk,but did they study in chiang mai
April 24, 201412 yr These are the official testing centres in Chiang Mai for the 3 language proficiency exams recognized by the UK government. IELTS (academic) and TOEFL are usually required for universities. IELTS (general) and TOEIC for employment. I don't know specifically which ones and what results are needed for immigration purposes. IELTS - the British Council, Bumrungrad Road or IH, Huaykaew Road TOEIC testing centre - Soi 3, Kaewnawarat Road TOEFL - Normally via the Internet. However, just found this: http://www.ets.org/Media/Tests/TOEFL/tclists/BOTH_t.html Most language schools offer preparation courses for these exams. Edited April 24, 201412 yr by Loaded
