My main question: Can you use these IDD prefixes with ANY SIM card and get the advertized discounts? (optional Q for real know-it-alls) I have True mobile(006) post pay. How would the calls made using other prefixes appear on my itemized bill?

This info from an old post.

Check rates here:
001 operated by CAT: http://www.catteleco...=561&subcat=858
009 operated by CAT: http://www.catteleco...=562&subcat=865

007 and 008 are operated by ToT:
007: http://www.totiig.ne...ess1/007_en.php
008: http://www.totiig.ne...ess1/008_en.php

005 and 00500 operated by AIN. Mind the difference between 005 and 00500 (tricky) !!!
005: http://www.ain.co.th...untry_rate.html
00500: http://www.ain.co.th...00500_rate.html

Very cheap rates can be achieve by using special mobile SIM cards, lile "True INTERSIM", down to 1 Baht/Minute.
BUT I often had problems to get connected via this SIM card in the peak hours, so kind of "unreliable".

(the 006 and 00600 prefix only works with these SIM cards)

Thank you

Yes, save for the 006/00600 (TrueMove only), 005/00500 (AIS only) and 004/00400 (DTAC only).

So 001, 007, 008 and 009 are "universal". 001 is equivalent to "+".

Calls would be itemized as international calls, billed over/above any allotment, rounded up to the next minute, times the per minute tariff then 7% VAT added. Not sure if 006 or 00600 calls might be included in your monthly allotment of minutes but I guess not. Check with TrueMove for confirmation.

You could not use AIS or DTAC bypass options (005/00500, 004/00400), as a TrueMove H customer.

It seems 008 only gives you a special rate (STARTING @ 3bt) if you are a TOT customer...

Instruction
Press 008 + Country Code + City Code/Area Code + Destination Number
Make a Call from
  • Fixed Line Telephone: TOT, and TT&T.
  • Mobile Phone: 470 Mhz., TOT 3G, AIS and DTAC. NO TRUE
  • TOT Public Payphone (with a sign of international call).
  • TOT Phone Cards: TOT Card, TOT Prepaid Card (by using “PIN Phone 108”
  • service) and TOT Family Card.
Charges
  • Starting from 3 Baht per minute, depending on the destination.
  • The special rate starting from 3 Baht per minute is only a call made from a TOT number. If made from other operators’ numbers, the call will be charged based on the destination.http://www.totiig.net/business1/008_en.php PAGE IS DEAD
Payment Methods
If the caller is a TOT subscriber, the service charge for international calls will be
included in only one single bill. The payment can be made at any TOT Customer
Service Center nationwide. If not, prepaid cards are required. So NO billing to 3rd party accounts. They wants the money NOW!
OH... Don't use 007; it starts at 9baht per min.
