Cooked, frozen Doner kebab meat anywhere?

Featured Replies

Hi all - has anyone seen any cooked-and-frozen Lamb Doner kebab meat (or complete kebabs with Pitta bread etc.) for sale in a Makro, Big C or Tesco store?

My UK Friday-night-addiction resulted in a five year long, painful withdrawal process ( perhaps "cold Lamb" rather than "cold Turkey?) but a "kind" (!) friend brought me a couple of frozen Doner kebabs back from Pattaya and all those forbidden longings have returned..................

Up here in Isaan I'm wondering if I can get a local chain store to stock if there are other branches in the group doing so elsewhere in Thailand.

There are plenty kebab suppliers in isaan that I have seen adverts for, where are you located? Countless people doing it in surin, prasat, prakhon chai and Buriram.

Thanks Skint - we're just outside of Sisaket town, do you have any details of the suppliers you mentioned?

Surin is probably the nearest one to us.

The "Döner" kebabs, they sell in Pattaya, are usually from chicken meat, not lamb and "homemade".

Chicken breast, marinated and put on a rotisserie.

My wife knows a family, which has 4-5 mobile stalls here.

They usually get their chicken breast at Makro and the pita in a small shop at second road.

There might be some suppliers of "ready to cook" Döner, but they are most likely sweet,....Thai style.

With the greatest respect, Turkleton, I consumed Lamb Doner kebabs for over 40 years in both the UK and Turkey so I'm pretty sure I can tell the difference between them and Chicken (which, I think, is a poor, dry substitute for Lamb) or, indeed the Thai Beef "Doner" kebabs that I was unfortunate enough to experience down in Hua-Hin................disgusting, inedible crap!

I've found one catering supplies company that sells frozen Lamb Doner meat but I'll continue to look for others................

Were you planning to share the supplier info with the rest of us here???

No problem old chap - with so few responses to my OP I didn't think there were many others that interested!

Supplier is Stafford's:-

Bon Appetit!

Well, you were asking for/seeking a pretty specialized kind of food item. That's probably the reason for the few responses.

But, in looking at Stafford's, which I've never heard of before, they have quite an array of products on offer. A very nice, and much appreciated, find.

One of the things that really bugs me about living here is..there are all kinds of smallish, specialized businesses purveying different things that farang customers might be interested in. But finding them, or finding out about them, is pretty difficult. I wish there was a better, central resource for folks to find these kinds of businesses.

Agree entirely..............anyway, I'm glad to have spread a bit of the good stuff!

Regards, and don't forget to post your comments (positive or negative) about any of these products that you might be tempted to sample...................

Just a quick update on the info I gave above - the product list .pdf on Stafford's website has not been updated recently (it's dated 2009) so it doesn't list Doner Kebabs!

Just phone or email them and they'll send you an updated list.

Those prices look a bit steep.

Try and Google "Buriram Pie Man". I know he doesn't stok doner meat as a regular thing but he can probably get it.

His prices are very good too.

I recently had some frozen Lamb kebabs from a guy called Nookie who delivers here in Lamplaimatt every couple of weeks, pretty good too,I think they were 95 baht each.I'll try & find his contact details

This guy has them give him a call good luck.

Sorry for posting the link mods if not ok please delete.
