louise
Im having trouble finding a reasonable price hospital , im pregnant and went first to a private hospital which was really overpriced for the service i got and my second experience was at a government hospital which wasent very clean. Im quite new to Bangkok so Im very confused as to where i should go ! im sure there must be some government hospital that is ok or a baby clinic with reasonable fees. If anyone could help I would appreciate it so much many thanks louise

lanny
I don't know about prenatal care and such but I find Yanhee Hospital to be reasonable in cost. I've used it for a few things, including cataract surgery. The problem with Yanhee is its location on Charansantiwong Road in Bangphat. That's across the river from most places. Sheryl
The following 2 hospitals are quite nice and popular with middle class Thais: Chao Phya Hospital - on the opposite side of the river, close to Siriiraj (same general area as Yanhee) Phyathai 2 Hospital, near Victory Monument (Sanam Pao BTS Station) I would rank these as about the same, depends on which location suits best. I think they both have maternity packages (single price for ante-natal, delivery & post-natal care). With Bangkok traffic the way it is, you'd do well to choose a place not to far of a drive. If none of the hospitals recommended so far suit then post again with your location.
zanja
In rangsit area I can recommend very good private hospitals but reasonably priced and have package prices for maternity delivery: 1. Pattara-Thonburi Hospital near Thamassat Rangsit 2. B-Care Medical Center (a specialist maternity hospital) 3. Ake Pathum Hospital Rangsit-NakonNayok Road before Dream World In Bangkok: Mission Hospital - Bangkok 430 Pitsanuloke Road Dusit Bangkok 10300 THAILAND Telephone: + 66 2 281 1422 Fax: + 66 2 280 0441 Email: [email protected] Web Site: http://www.mission-hospital.org
Margo
Louise, You should get in touch with BAMBI: Bangkok Mothers & Babies International. Web site's at http://www.bambi-bangkok.org/ There is an abundance of information of the type that you're seeking. I did the whole prenatal/birth/postnatal/pediatric thing at King Mongkut hospital, the military hospital near Victory Monument. The people running the unit all speak English. The cost was about 20k baht for the labor/post labor stay in a private room with aircon (if that's not cheap enough, really, really, really cheap in dorm with no cool air). The service was excellent, and I was even able to present my doctor/labor ward nurses with my birth plan. We also had a private labor room. They don't (at least didn't) have options such as water birth, but I was left alone to do what I wanted for most of the time and had minimal intervention in the birth, which was as I wanted. The Childbirth and Breastfeeding Foundation of Thailand, the registered entity that BAMBI exists under, is also a good resource in identifying less expensive hospitals that will respect your wishes. The contact details are on the BAMBI Web site. If price is no objective, Samitvej is the place to go. l
sos
If your around or near Bangna area, I suggest you check Thainakarin Hospital. I had my first baby ( caesarian with complication) and now for my second baby + Prenatal + Pedia + Vaccine. Doctor's Fee is around 250 baht to 300 baht. Reasonable rate and clean hospital. You can check www.thainakarin.co.th.
