Miami Bob
Can anyone tell me what the story is with the DVD's you buy here in Thailand as to the Region they will play in. This DVD I bought says "dts". What does that mean? In a circle it says "region quality 9" From what I can find on the net there is no "region 9" or is this considered a " region free disk" if there really is such a thing. What's the story? britmaveric
DVD9 dual layer disc is what its referring to. If its a legit DVD than it will be coded with Region 3, if its not legit they are normally region free. DTS - sound DTS (formerly known as Digital Theater Systems) Surround Sound! Firefoxx
The discs that have questionable parentage usually don't have very accurate labels. Don't expect too much from the makers, who don't speak much English.
Jimmy in Bangkok
Miami Bob, If you are watching them on a computer then a simple program called AnyDVD will remove the region code so it doesn't matter what region they are coded with as it won't change the region coding on your computer. If you wish to watch them on a DVD player then re-burning them utilizing AnyDVD to a blank disc also then allows you to play them on any DVD player as it will once again remove the region coding.
