Water pump and tank specialist recommendation?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

My wife and I are in the process of building a house in Krabi and I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good shop to install a water tank, pressure tank and pump? We have a deep well dug and a pump from it but our builder has not been very helpful in supplying us with a vendor.

What I believe we want is a 2000l tank, a whole house filter to take out the particulate matter and pump with pressure tank to supply steady water pressure to our two story home. I know that Grundfos, Hitachi and others have what I need and I guess I could purchase it myself from homepro and install it, but was hoping to have it done by a local company. I will also install a separate filter system in the kitchen for drinking and cooking water, but I can handle that part as part of the kitchen install.

Thanks in advance,

Richard

Soon to be splitting my time between Los Angeles and Krabi.

Hi Richard, I found a good place a few weeks ago that might be able to help, I was looking to buy new medium (manganese & act'd carbon) for my filter and came across this place who specialise in water filtration and pools. They obviously deal on a big scale but were extremely helpful on my small requirement, the owner speaks excellent English and clearly knows his stuff, gave good advice on what I needed and didn't rip me off.

Sorry but I don't have the name or number, but it's easy to find. Take the main road from Ao Nang through Saithai towards Krabi town, turn left at the main crossroads (with the fuel station on your left) onto the dual carriageway going towards Makro, the shop is only about 100 metres or so on the left past the fuel station. Easy to spot as they have a few big ss filters outside.

I don't know if this info is of any interest to you but as you mention getting a 2000 ltr tank, I reckon you might be better advised to get 2 smaller ones, I'll explain why. My well water used to be pumped to a tank on a higher level, which then (using gravity only) went through my filter into a lower tank which was then pumped into the house as required. I used this system for many years but had a recurring problem due to the well water being so brown..especially in wet season.

My filter would block up and need back-flushing more often than I was used to previously, so I decided to try and improve it once and for all.

I've now installed a simple 'primary filter' between the high tank and the lower tank and re-plumbed the stainless filter (which has new Activated Carbon and Manganese) so the auto pump pushes the water through it into house as required. The primary filter I made is simply a length of 4 inch plastic pipe filled with pumice stone. So far so good. Btw, it's a good idea to thoroughly wash the filter medium before putting it the filters. Cheers, Ray.

Thanks Ray. I'll track down that shop when we get back into town and reconsider our plans for the tank. Your idea of a primary filter is a very good one. Our place is on the other side of town on the way to Home Pro or the airport on a small soi fronting Krabi Yai klong. The builder says it will be finished this summer so we'll be coming over soon. During the rainy season. smile.png
