PDRC to move its protest venue to Ratchadamnoen on Monday

BANGKOK: -- Supporters of the People’s Democratic Reform committee started pulling of the free television stations they occupied since Friday and returning to Lumpini park to join thousand others who have been cleaning up the park.

PDRC supporters have laid siege to TV channels 3, 5, 7, 9 and 11 since Friday to demand the stations to broadcast the activities and statements of the PDRC while, at the same time, to stop broadcasting everything pertaining to the Centre for the Administration of Peace and Order. The PDRC however did not intervene in the broadcast of their normal programmes.

All except Channel 11 or NBT have complied to the PDRC.

The PDRC will stage its last rally at Lumpini park today and it will move the protest venue to Ratchadamnoen Avenue and the Democracy Monument on Monday where it expects to celebrate their final victory which is the installation of an interim prime minister and an interim government.

After the cleanup campaign, Lumpini park will be returned to the City Hall, said PDRC.

Really hope for the sake of the country and it's people that this will be the final and decisive move, in which this corrupt institution, what this government is, will be given the final blow.

Yingluck will be more happy in Dubai anyway, Chalerm will find another country where ear drops will be available, and life can become normal again.

If a new government will be installed, there first priority should be freezing the assets from the old politicians who were in on the rice program and compensate with the confiscated money all the farmers who have suffered.

Then the economy will be on track soon, investors will come back and tourism will bloom again to the old level.

wow - you really think that will happen and work?

There has been a conspicuous dirge of reporting on the red shirt rally of millions and millions. Not even by Khaosod. The UDD appears to have fallen completely under the radar. Meanwhile, the PDRC - true to form - are cleaning up their rally location, establishing a model that the UDD will clearly never follow. CAPO still manages to broadcast on only one of five channels, while Pheu Thai buckles down on their only remaining ambition - to keep the Senate from opening - apparently indefinitely.

It will be nice to have the park "back". After it's "handed over" to City Hall perhaps they should keep it closed until it has been "repaired" - viz allowing the grass to regrow, and replacing dying shrubbery and other flora. It's a beautiful space, long in need of an upgrade, so here's the opportunity.

Did you know, that to use the Park for a public event, the land must be rented from BMA? I wonder if PDRC paid a daily rental to the BMA coffers to go towards the rehabilitation of the park....and let's just see the state it's in when they up-root themselves.

That's what civilised people do.....clean up after their mess.

Any chance of the reds taking any notice?

But forcing free to air TV stations to carry their dear leader's inane ramblings and causing fear within the building they occupied and caused trafffic mysery for hundreds of thousands is ok? You're more concerned about the mess left behind?

Perhaps you should read about the ecological damage they have caused in Lumpini Park - even taking a dump in the lake...yes... glad to see your priorities are right.

You've perhaps forgotten Thaksin sending armed thugs to occupy TV and radio stations, strutting around inside the broadcaster's offices with implicit threats if negative views of Thaksin were broadcast.

Sir..show me an instance when they went to free to air stations - 3, 5, 7, 9 - and shut them down/threatened them. If you are referring to this, then the the story linked here will show otherwise. http://www.nytimes.com/2010/04/10/world/asia/10thai.html?_r=0

But your thugs are better than Thaksin's thugs? Hmm..I don't recall Reds blocking the expressways, beating up drivers who moved the bollards or forcing tourists out of the cabs to walk the rest of the way to DMK. Can you recall that happening? Well, it's happening now - much like they shut down Suvarnabhumi a few years back.

So, it's Monday for the peoples council and the supreme leadership to be installed by the mighty Suthep, wonder what position Abhisit and the Mad Monk have been offered?

Simply not going to happen, the country can't be that stupid to allow such an enormous backward step- can it ?

the country has already undergone so many steps backward, by voting for retarded politicians from the TRT, PT and other scum groups

I know that it could work, but knowing Thais it will probably not happen, because they will always vote for money, so ill-politicians will never be out of high posts in this country.

Most are too lazy or to ignorant to even think about changing the country.

Agree with you.

The park should have been upgraded, and it could be a really eye-cathing, breathtaking spot in the polluted city, if the BKK administration would invest some in it, and there are enough unemployed youth, who should be put to work on that project.

Ah yes...and of course, the assets of all the senior-senior civil servants, the army, the navy, the air force, police, the tambon heads across the country should all have their assets frozen because they have all done 'business' with the elected government of the time...including the Democrats.

And those pesky doctors who get paid for taking on a product to recommend to their patients. They should be locked up, too.

Oh and yes...all those senior executives at publicly-listed companies or private companies that put their hands out for a minimum 10% of the contract value to make sure the Board signs off on the project.

Or those civil servants in the south's tourism spots or even here in Bangkok who covet positions to approve/disapprove permits for anything that needs to be built. Yes..they're all Democrats.

If you think reform will lead to less corruption, you live in la-la land. They are all of the same ilk regardless what party governs.

Also the democrats were involved in the corruption, so yes they should be punished the same way, no difference of what party you're from.

Too many on here have adopted Thai standards of mob mentality and gang up on someone with a view that differs. Pathetic when you think about it.

yes they even condone throwing M79 grenades at peaceful protestors

Given the absence of an effective taxpayer-financed police force and considering that they were on the receiving end of near daily bombings, shootings, grenading of their rally site, one could say that they paid with more than an ample amount of blood.

Thanks ThaiPBS for the chuckle by inferring that the CAPO broadcast is an abnormal programme.
