Jonathan Fairfield Posted May 14, 2014 Share Posted May 14, 2014 National park officers drink to prove their innocence over elephant death PRACHUAP KHIRI KHAN PROVINCE: Officers from Kui Buri National Park and Koonchorn (Elephant) Project held a ceremony cursing people who were involved in the recent death of bulls and elephants in the park. Officer also took part in ceremonial water drinking in order to prove that they are innocent of any wrongdoing. Over the past 2 years, a number of bulls and elephants have mysteriously been found dead in Kui Buri national park, the cause of death in each case remains unknown. However, after this most recent fatality, officers have now decided to run a autopsy to try and establish exactly the cause of death, the results of which will be announced next week. One's faith in a deity, religion, ceremony, etc., is based on the individual's beliefs.In this instance, it may be that the participants believe that the ceremony is testimony and verification as to their innocence. The "power" may be the participants faith in the ceremony and the symbolism of innocence. As to their true innocence, I'm not God and will leave it at that.
