obtaining 60 day tourist visa in malaysia

Featured Replies

Hey folks, we are an Irish couple who currently have a 60 day tourist visa that we obtained in oz. I am doing my divemaster training but we then want to stay longer than the two months. We are not ans will not be working and are aware that we can extend the visa by another 30 days in samui, we are based in Tao.

What advice I am looking for is if we went to Malaysia at the end of the two months to apply for another two months can it be done??

We do not want to do visa runs etc as we like to be honest etc and avoid the hassles. We know there is the crackdown on the border visas so would apply for another two month visa in the Thai consulate in Malaysia but what would be our chances of getting approved. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

You should not have a problem getting another tourist visa in Penang.

To the OP, you could have applied for a double entry TR in Australia, thus eliminating the need to apply for a second tourist visa. However, as Ubonjoe has stated, one more TR in Penang should not be a problem. If you wanted to stay more than another 3 months, head to Laos for a double entry as I believe Malaysia doesn't do them.

catch the sleeper train from chumpon to penang (butterworth). need to book at least a few days in advance, upto three month advance i think can do, so get it before you head to the islands at any train station. get two lower berths.
