Two visa's

Featured Replies

I have no idea if this is possible, but if you don't ask......

I have a single entry visa which i intend to extend for another 30 day's when in Thailand.
I arrive in Bangkok early June.

Could i also get either a double or triple entry visa (in London) in order to give me some flexibility regarding leaving and re entering Thailand.

Obviously, i would then have two visas!

Plan A - I intend to stay in Thailand for the 3 month duration, mainly in Bangkok. Hopefully, the curfew is relaxed sometime soon after i arrive.

Plan B - The current political situation deteriorates, no sign of the curfew being lifted when i am in Bangkok - take a trip to Cambodia and/or Vietnam and see if things improve, and re enter if it does.

Is this possible...buying a second visa?

Presume you currently have a Single Entry Tourist Visa and no you can't have two valid Thai Visas in your passport at the same time.

You can try pleading with Immigration when you arrive in Thailand to get a 30 day Visa Exempt entry instead, if say you are leaving Thailand after a couple of day, but you may well not be successful.

Either way you can always get a re-entry Permit from your local Thai Immigration Dept for 1,000 THB which will preserve the 'Admitted Until' stamp date from your initial entry if you do need to go/come.

You also can get a multiple re-entry permit for 3,800 THB which allows you to come and go as much as you like during the original 'Admitted Until' period.

If you have a single entry Tourist Visa then you will initially get 60 days entry, which can be extended by a full 30 days of your 'Admitted Until' date, within 30 days of this date by applying at your local Immigration Dept.

Re-entry permits!

Seems i have more options than i thought.

So, if i get one of the Re-entry permits, i understand my 60 day "Admitted Until" date still stands on my return into Thailand.

When i return, can i still extend my Single Entry Tourist Visa for another 30 day's when using a Re-entry permit, giving me 3 months?

Would have to get the Re-entry permit in Bangkok as i would leave Thailand by land.

Thanks.

If you decide to get another visa, in this case a double entry or triple entry visa, the first one will be cancelled.

You can get a re-entry permit and later extend with 30 days.

Be aware that the re-entry permit only gives you same date as permission of stay as you original entry, you will not get any extra days while abroad.

You can get the re-entry permit at any immigrations office or at the international airport in BKK, you can not get it at the border.
