Just an idea.. could Thailand brew a new beer from the rice mountain?

Featured Replies

whistling.gif Probably not beer, but Rice wine I would think.

But would you want to drink it, with all the chemicals they've been using on it to preserve it in storage for 3 years.

Not sure I would want to myself.

Isn't Sake made from Rice anyhow?

But in seems it would take a lot of effort and be expensive to distill into decent Sake even if that is possible.

As far as I know both Chang and Cheers are brewed with rice already.

What's that go to do with beers?

Sake is made with rice.

So is Budweiser (Busch 30% rice).

Beer is made from malted barley, not ricewhistling.gif

It has been used as an adjunct in "cheap", low quality beers, such as Thai beers, but only serves to make it cheaper for the producers and of lower quality for the consumer.

American beers are usually made from domestically-grown as well as Canadian-grown barley and US-grown hops. Rice and corn are often used by the largest domestic breweries to produce light-colored pilsners such as Coors, Miller and Budweiser. The use of such adjunct ingredients is often criticized, but corn and rice have been used for many years to make American beer[
