Would anyone here recommend Teaching English as a Foreign Language certificate , is the market saturated?

I have extensive IT experience and have had 5 articles published in a South African nationally distributed newspaper, however they all PC related.

Any recommendations for work sites.

If you do one, don't do this cowboy one - do a proper one like the ECC CELTA.

I know sooo many guys who did mickey mouse Thai "tefl" courses and then realised that they were pretty much looked down upon from all those in the know.

I taught for a few years and believe me, the intitial "pink cloud" always wears off - usually the maximum life of a Thai tefler is 5 years.

In all my years here, I've never met a happy, normal guy who's been a teacher for more than 10 years.

I have met a couple. Granted, they are in the minority, but some Teflers out there are very happy with their lot and fair play to them.

I might be too defeatist, but I just can't see how you can make a good living out of teaching English in SE Asia, let alone Thailand where competition is so fierce. I only see it as a way of getting by in times of need, but good luck mate (although you probably won't need it after 8 years..).
