Hi guys and gals,

I am looking to buy some Intanin (อินทนิล) trees in Ubon Ratchathani. Scientific name is Lagerstroemia speciosa.

I understand these trees are literally everywhere and i could try to pick the seed pods and start growing them that way (and i may have to do that), but i was wondering if anyone knows of a place that sells them? We have checked all the garden shops and none of them have 'em! (nobody seems to know where to buy them...apparently they are "wild trees")

I know i have specified Ubon, but if anyone knows where they are sold in Bangkok, i would appreciate those suggestions too (i can easily buy a few of them in BKK and take them up with me)

Here's a few pics. Thanks for any advice! Much appreciated! wai2.gifpost-182195-0-92349900-1401498877_thumb.post-182195-0-71588300-1401498878_thumb.post-182195-0-37678400-1401498879_thumb.post-182195-0-56469700-1401499164_thumb.post-182195-0-28028800-1401499165_thumb.

I don't know whether they will have the specific item you are looking for, but you could try asking (preferably aided by a Thai friend/partner) at all the gardening places on the road behind the airport*. About 10 'garden centres' (Thai style and some sell trees as well), lining both sides of the road. Someone may at least know where you can go.

* Take the Ubon-Trakarn Road, Highway 2050 which goes north off the eastern end of Uppalisan Road. After about 3 km the U-T Road goes past the north-eastern end of the airport runway. Keep going about another half to one km and "gardeners alley" starts.
