Hunt for people posting a fake picture of Phra Buddha Isara in social media

BANGKOK: -- The National Council for Peace and Order has ordered authorities concerned to find out who was responsible for the posting of a fake picture of Phra Buddha Isara in the social media which has gone viral in the cyber space.

The picture shows the well known monk, a leading member of the People’s Democratic Reform Committee, preaching on TV Channel 5.

Army deputy spokesman Colonel Winthai Suvaree said today that the picture was a fake because TV Channel 5 did not air any programme featuring Phra Buddha Isara. He added the widespread sharing of the picture in question in the social media had caused a misunderstanding among the public.

The colonel said that authorities concerned were trying to locate the prankster or pranksters and the full weight of the law would be meted out against them.
