Attention all middle aged bicyclists with wonky knees!

Biking on my folding bike has damaged/ aggravated one knee.

A Korean cardiologist in Hanoi, after ultrasound and consultation learning medical history diagnosed me as having osteoarthritis. I have doubts and want a second opinion. I am in Bangkok now but could come to Phatthaya if suitable professionals are just as good or better there.

There is a long thread in a popular bike forum already so I will spare you the details.

I have used BKK-Pattaya before and been happy with all but the price.

DR. PANYARIT KITIWANPRASAN

Works at the ao udom hospital and freelances in almost every hospital in the area. Specialist for knee and hip replacement.

Bolted my leg back together after a motorcycle accident a while ago and did an excellent job at it.

If you are in Bangkok, you might want to have this thread moved over the to health forum. Sheryl who moderates that forum would probably be able to give you some excellent recommendations. Let me know if you want this topic moved over there.

In my limited experience here, medical specialists in Bangkok are pretty much the best in the country...with the best prices and the best options.

I worked for a major bike manufacturer for well over a decade, before becoming chiropractor.

Though I don't work in Thailand, I do know that most MD's (and many chiros) are not aware than

many 'damaged/ aggravated knee' problems that casual cyclists have are simply due to their

bike not being correctly set-up for them, which includes the rider's leg length.

I can recall one patient, back in the States, who said she had spent $$$ seeing different

docs who suggested everything from surgery to a simple knee brace. I simply did the needed

adjustments to her bike and had her ride around the block. She returned exclaming that

her knees no longer pained her when riding.

This could be your case,,,or it could be something more involved which needs further

exploration.

Good luck...
