Are the 30-day extensions on 60 day tourist visas unaffected by the recent crackdowns? Or are they a "given" like they used to be?

If one thinks about it, the question might come up "why do you need an extra 30 days when you already had 60 days here, are you going to visit every single wat in Thailand?"

edit: of course that's the easiest 1900 bht Thai immigration makes, 15 min of work, 30 days for us, 1900 bht for them

They are not included. Many have got them recently without a problem.

Yep - they were handing plenty out at Jomtien last week and the only hassle I had was that the photo crowd who did the photocopy of my passport are - according to the Immi guy who processes the extensions - 'no good'. He simply swivelled in his chair, took his own photocopy and threw theirs in the bin - that's the way it should be, IMO.
