Written statement NOT having Thai nationality

Featured Replies

Hi all, hoping one off u could help me with an passport issue

I am Dutch and my passport has expired, at this time i am in Thailand without a visa (overstay)

i not go in details too much, and yes i know it is my own fault, but i am trying to set things straight.

Last month i applied for a new passport at the Netherlands Embassy,

today i got a mail from them, where in short, i have to prove i have NOT the Thai nationality, they gave me 2 phonenumbers,

1 from special branch police Thanit tel. 02-2521714 and Royal Thai Government gazette, tel. 02-2809000

Can anyone verify that this is correct ? and if i call one of those numbers, don't i get problems with my overstay ?

So in short, how do i prove i have not the Thai nationality ?

Thnxs for any kind of help, mamu.

The royal gazette would likely be the best choice in you situation. That is where all official announcements are made.including those announcing those that have gotten Thai nationality. Website in Thai is here http://www.ratchakitcha.soc.go.th/RKJ/index/index.htm

That is strange and never heard of this.

Technically you lose Dutch nationality in two circumstances:

- if you take another nationality of your own free will (unless you are married to a national of that country

- If you live abroad and your passport is expired longer than 10 years and you have also another nationality.

I would contact the embassy and ask them why. If they give an unsatisfactory answer contact the national ombudsman for mediation. That can sort things out in a short time.
