For anybody who uses Skype on there phone or iPad word of warning the latest version released yesterday does not allow you to delete chats or history so if that's important to you I wouldn't upgrade

Thanks for noting that. This is an interesting reversion, and one that Windows Phone users have complained about for a long time. The "new" iOS version of Skype now looks just like the crippled Windows Phone version. Congrats to MS for yet more "innovation".

Just found this on the Skype user community board. From a Skype admin:

Skype 5.0 for iPhone does not have the functionality to remove individual entries from the recent conversations. We are looking into bringing this back in a future update.

Isn't it nice that MS is "looking into bringing this back"? Why did they remove it in the first place?

I read the same thread before, one can only assume that they have intentionally remove the option so that chats and history can stay on the server and they use the data for something either way it's a really rally sneaky thing to do and off the back of that will probably close my hotmail account as shift to gmail.

You really have to question what these big company's are doing they seem to do a fingers up to users privacy until there is a massive uproar then they bring it back.

Everybody should have the option to delete private chats and literally there is no way to do it now on iOS Skype it doesn't even sun with desktop so if it's deleted from desktop it's gone from iOS disgusting .

It is possible to delete chats and history from the Skype desktop app. But that doesn't sync with the phone apps, so everything stays on your phone or tablet, presumably stored on your phone and consuming memory while it's at it. Or does it actually stay on MS servers? Who knows...MS aren't saying. And what exactly was the purpose of MS removing the rather important security and privacy feature of deleting chats and history? An obvious and universal feature of SMS messaging (and every other messaging app for that matter) is the ability to delete messages, so why did MS remove that feature from Skype?

The sync issue is yet another annoying issue with Skype. Alerts do not sync between devices, so if you have a chat on one device, it shows up as an unanswered alert on all your other devices, which much then be manually cleared, one device at a time.
