Police volunteer told me no more 1 year B visa at Penang. Is this true ? Do they issue for shorter periods?

I have a WP valid until Jan 31.

If true where else in the region can I go?

No reports of this, your police volunteer contact may have confused Penang with KL which no longer does One Year Multiple Entry Non Immigrant 'B's.

You need a minimum of 8 Months+ validity in your WP, so with your WP expiring in Jan 2015, this would be a problem at Penang for a one year non 'b'.

Did you do the 15 month trick on your last border run, which has put your WP 'out of sync' with your visa?

You should be able to get a 90 day Single Non 'B' at Penang with all the papers plus your valid WP - phone them and check re the WP validity issue and as to what to expect regarding multi entry visas.

Penang actually answer the phone during working hours

One more question please, 90day B is it for only a single entry? Or to really mix it all up can I re- enter the day before it expires for 120 day of entry which gets me through the end of October ?

If so..and only single .looks like a marathon drive to MY is in the cards my car's visa only has 90 days left out of 6 month ( It gets a longer permission to stay than I do ...)

A single entry non-b will only give you one 90 day entry.

The consulate in Bali will do a multiple entry non-b but I do not know their requirements as for work permit validity is. You could send a PM to member vongbali and ask about it.

NEVER trust a police volunteer,

according to my sources ( from last week) multi B visa's are still being issued in Penang ( heading down next monday to get my gf 1 year visa).

u need at least 9 months on your wp

they will only issue u a single entry as u only have 7 1/2 months left

and these docs's

1. Visa application form with 2 recent passport photos attached
2. Shareholders & directors list
3. Letter of introduction/ sponsorship from company
4. List with names of employees
5. Company registration
6. Social security registration
7. Company license
8. Company registration
9. Work permit - photo page
10. Passport - photo page

I emailed with info about Jan 31 expiry on WP and they answered, "Yes,one year. " Guess I'd better print that out and get down there before the end of this month.

And yes they even answer the phones, albeit the women was a bit curt and annoyed I was calling. None of this info is on their site, though

So with a 90 day you cannot purchase a multi to leave the country?

You can purchase a Multiple Re-entry Permit with a Single Entry Non Immigrant 'B' Visa 90 day entry but it is only valid for use during those same 90 days, simply preserving the 90 day 'Admitted Until ' date on multiple entry/exit.

Thus you would need to make more than 4 trips in/out within the 90 days, else you are better off purchasing Single Re-Entry Permits at 1,000 THB a time.
