Hi Chaps , I have posted this topic here because it may get your attention quicker than in the main sports sub-forum.

I think the WC preds is proving a success and a lot of fun so far :o

My workplace runs a Premiership predictions compo annually, it is based on the same rules as the WC. I find it makes the Premiership more interesting because you are focussing on other teams as well as your own, even non-prem fans seem to enjoy it. Is anyone interested in taking part in next seasons games ? It can be purely for fun, like this one, or perhaps, if possible there could be a small entry fee and prizes at the end. I was thinking that a paypal account , or similar, could be set up by a neutral trustee, for example George or Dr Patpong. An entry fee of £5 sterling or equivalent to be sent to that account by each of us, once the compo was underway, George could total it up and we could calculate the prize money between the first 3 or so places.

Obviously George would have to agree to help us first. Or it could be done sans cash just for fun.

Please let me know your thoughts, the season is still some 10 weeks away, so there is plenty of time for any ideas and suggestions. I would be more than happy to run the compo, and hope some of you might want to have a go.

:D

Wow, seems like you have too much time on your hands, but your efforts are very much appreciated. :o :

I would be up for this. Would spice things up a bit for the new season.

I have a paypal account so that would be fine too.

You're not kidding there Chonabot! Has anyone been in the Sports forum since the WC started? I bet theres tumbleweed blowing between the posts there.....

I'd be well up for this! A bit of fun always helps spice things up a bit especially for those of us who support teams out of the Premiership!

I`m from Hartlepool originally and.............for that reason (??????!!!!!! - Hartlepool FC used to a joke when I lived there.....) ....... was never interested in football. Having seen, however, how a football dumbo like me can beat the pants off some of the football "specialists" taking part in this WC comp, I may well take part again --------- and it has been great fun so far!!!!

You are dead right Nongwahyay..it has been great fun, and thanks a lot to Chon for suggesting it.. I am all for it.. I wont win it as I could not for one minute believe that Reading will drop a single point......(Well thats not quite true they will drop at least 24 :D )

PS :Whats the story about Hartlepool and the Monkey?

A bit "off topic" but its worth re-counting :o

It sounds like there's enough interest to pursue this :D

I will get back on the case after the World cup , probably need about 20 minimum, have to decide whether a freebie or for prize money and then look into the fairest way of setting that up.

Once the compo is running I will send out xl sheets every 4 weeks, no updating is necessary, but it's a good idea to check the scores just in case.... :o

Well...some people are quick off the mark, I must say!!!!!! For those who don´t know the story...in a very few words...during the Napoleonic war a ship was supposed to have been shipwrecked off the coast of Hartlepool...on board was a monkey....the Hartlepudlians, supposedly never having seen a monkey before, took it for a French spy and hanged it..............

And we poor H´pudlians are hounded world-wide because of this story....and because of our not too brilliant football team.......so if I´m to take part in this new comp, I want a dozen free points to get me going.....
