That tis the question.....

Been on a couple dates with a certain fellow, if you can define them as dates....dinner, sometimes a movie, sometimes just for a drink.....I'm just in need of confirmation on what defines a date and whether is it just hanging out as friends or building up to a relationship???

Do people still date? Any dating stories out there?

it is a date so long as you and him acknowledge that it is a date, and know where things are leading to...

if you leave it vague, then he will likely exploit it to your detriment somewhere down the line when the stakes are up.

Depends on a few things.......did he ask you out ? Did you play tonsil hockey during the movies ? What is your gut feeling ? Canu see it going further ?

You know the answer already.

Depends on both parties involved, I would say. It's a date when you both take it as a date. I do believe you can sense it if it's more "special". That's what we are good at. :o

I was dating my Brit for a while. Everytime he was back in town, we would go out together, have dinner, go movies, have a few drinks, xxx, etc. On one certain trip, when he was done at the JP Embassy, he came to have lunch and coffee with me at my office in Ratchayothin area. That's when we were dating.

But on the latest trip, I was going to Spasso one night and invited him to come over as he had got no plans. So, we met there. Not too long, they put the Rugby game on TV. He turned to ask me "Can I go watch the game closer?" Sure, baby. Then, he disappeared and soon came back as the game was no longer on TV. He then told me he was going somewhere else to watch the game and would be back in an hour or so. He never came back. :D So, we are not dating anymore.. even though sometimes he gets a bit "naughty" on his camera on mobile when asked.

So, I am sure people still date. I am just not. :D

Good luck na ka :D

Well there has to be a mutual agreement that it is a "date" and usually there has to be motivations of something meaningful at least for both parties. Course feelings change and if anything, "dating" is about getting to know someone and seeing if they are your match? :o

I'm just in need of confirmation on what defines a date

A Date is the fruit of the Date palm, Phoenix dactylifera. Three main fruit types exist: soft, semi-dry, and dry. The type of fruit depends on the glucose, fructose and sucrose content. :o

wolf5370 - thanks for that definitive explanation of a date, finally a real man with answers!!! :o In addition to that they're very good for digestion.....

Lovelycutie - thanks for sharing your experience, don't give up just yet, there's still hope out there, lurking around.....

britmaveric - certainly agree with getting to know each other, but now the question is, when things are going smoothly already but there is so much ambiguity inthe situation, what would be a subtle non-pressure/non-seducing way of getting across to the guy that I am interested in being more than friends?

NedKelly - no tonsil hockey yet, it would be much easier if that was apparent, then I would know it's not just friends eh??? Gut feeling?....it's a very good feeling but the answer is what I said very ambigous......

thedude - how do you acknowledge that it is a date? I mean I'm pretty sure these are dates, but then they could also be interpreted as two adults with a mutual feeling of hunger and going out to satisfy that need....Also totally understand about trying not to leave it vague because from other friends' experience the guy can just turn around and say "i thought we were just friends" --- tough blow!!!!

Thanks for all the feedback!

Life is filled with a bunch of possibilities, but whether to pursue them or let it come naturally is the dilemma....

February, 2nd 1983 is a date.

November, 23rd 2003 is also a date.

Actually, there are plenty of dates.

Isn't that illegal!!!!

Shopgurl... well I think you need to talk to the lad. There is nothing wrong with being open and honest. I think where a relationship is leading is a faire enough question after numerous occasions out. (friendship or something more) If one of you never makes a move or don't communicate, I fear things will stay status quo.

this is terrible and resembles an apocryfoul tale of WC Fields in an indecent movie of the time wherein he sneers '...relax honey...just bend over and I'll give you a date where the sun don't shine...'

Dates and descriptions thereof have no place on a family website...

The best approach is to just come out with it straight. Say to him 'hey want a root' and see what he says ! Obviouslyhe will say yeah sure......then you have his attention you can ask him more !! :o Dont beat around the bush (so to speak)

yes, i side with ned kelly: in these pc days, gurlz should set the tenor of the relationship by making the first move ... once talk about the weather and business has been exhausted, aggressively tell him that though ~he~ may be interested in rugby at spasso, ~your~ interest is in his balls (and occasionally the contents of his head) ... had you done that on that occasion i bet it would have been the two of you that left and not him, never to return. you never get anything in this world unless you asked for it (and please don't ask me about my black eye just now).
