yesterday on channel 3 I saw a very disturbing program on the twilight show 3.30pm.

a thai family had bought a Tibetan mastiff with the intention of breeding.for those who are not familier with the breed they are dogs with a very thick coat, ours has a double coat but not in the same league as these, they grow to an enormous size

of 64-78 kilo's and some as big as 100 in Europe.the show was presented by who I call the 4 stooges who wouldn't now a thing about dogs in Thailand.how the hell are these beautyfull dogs goner handle the heat and the humidity, they are destined for a life of misery.its no good appealing to the kennel club of Thailand as its like everything else what does a farang know.i know what it takes just to give ours a happy and comfortable life, but I and my wife treat him as our son.

so please think of the dog and not the money.

there's more chance England winning the world cup.

meatboy.a concerned dog lover.

And another thing, why do dog owners never hear their own dogs bark? Why do they never consider the distress it causes neighbours who have retired for some peace and quiet? I am speaking personally about a predominantly farang estate.

please explain your quandary.yes ours is a malamute.

Took my daughter to her Thai school friend's house one day - father showed me his six Bernese mountain dogs. In cages and unshorn. I was quite upset and refused to take my daughter back to that place. Several months later, I heard all the dogs had died from a disease. I felt quite sick.

yes wwww.me and the wife have commited our lives to looking after ours and know he should not have been introduced to Thailand, maybe chaing mai but there again they do need 24/7 looking after.ours was 1yr.old when we rescued him very very sick.the vet told us he rated his survival as very lucky another day or 2 and he wouldn't be with us today.so having seen enough of uncaring owners my thoughts are always has he brothers and sisters not being cared for as they should.

we have had him over 3yrs and every day its a pleasure to wake up with him by our side.

when I saw these Tibetan mastiff's on tv.I too felt sick to think they have been introduced to a country that is so hot and humid how can they leed a normal life is behond me.

You're kidding, right?

Another breed quite often found here is the Great St Bernard, another dog with a heavy coat and quite unsuitable for Thailand. I've seen several. A friend of mine was given one, but he told me it was quite impossible to keep in Thailand.... it needed attention 24/7, and a working person just could not cope.
