Electrical power hook up to new home

Featured Replies

Has anyone in 2014 had electrical power run to and hooked up in their home? I am trying to gain information on what others have paid for said electrical hook up. If you have had to have poles installed in order to get electricity to your home....I would especially appreciate hearing of what the cost for said "pole installation" cost you. Please also state which province you are living in for comparison purposes. If you had your electric installed by a priviate contractor....please state this as well. Obviously, this post is not intended for a majority of TV subscribers / viewers.... Thank you to all serious replies / post. Sorry to post this in the "general" category but I wanted to get as much exposure as possible to my question.

ps....yes I have also gotten a "ridiculous" verbal quote from my PEA....and I know how they plan to "do me".

I can't answer your questions, but I do believe you should ask yourself one question before you do anything else:

What is the voltage coming into the property in question?

I know five people now who have paid to bring in power, built an entire house, then found there was less than 180 volts available.

Result: No a/c. No oven. Lots of heartache.

You might want to pay an electrician (or two) a few hundred baht to check.

Also depends on what size "pot" as they call it, that you need. How far from the road, so many variables.

My neighbor just got a quote. But, you first.

When we installed the 3-phase, the guy told us that we can either let his company make everything or we let a other company make it, but he has to check it and if we don't want troubles we take his company.

First I was a bit angry. But when I saw the finished work with everything top quality like in Europe with perfect earth/ground, I am happy that I took him.

Specially when I see all the other installations. Of course as he was from the electric company he measured the voltage and would take care if it is wrong.
