In the USA, I was always able to buy phone cards that would allow me to make international calls at very inexpensive rates. You'd call the number on the card, enter a pin number and enter the number you were calling. I can't say I've seen anything like that here.

I need to make some calls for business purposes but I want to limit the expense, especially considering you usually have to navigate an automated phone system that takes you 10 minutes to actually talk to a human operator.

Any suggestions?

Welcome to year 2014 biggrin.png

Seriously..the best is when you get yourself a skype account and topup money on it by CC or PayPal. You can call to the most countries for under 1cent per minute. Also you can book monthly packages like 5 USD for 30 days unlimited calls to USA.

It may be 2014, but some of us just do not want to deal with Skype. When I want to make a call, I want to pick up my phone and dial. I don't want to involve my computer, I don't have a smart phone and I don't want one. I don't do Facebook either. Call me a Luddite.

Okay, if there is anyone out there that fits the above description and wants to make international calls from a mobile phone in Thailand, Google "DeeDial." It is a great service, there are many ways to sign up and refill accounts, and best of all, there are no charges from your cell phone carrier. If you use the "ringback" service, you just call DeeDial, then hang up, and the Deedial computer calls you back -- no DTAC charge for incoming calls!. They also have dedicated numbers you can set up with the ringback service. If I want to call my friend, Roger, in the States, I dial "his" DeeDial number ( local number), then, after i hear a ringtone, I hang up. The DeeDial computer calls me back and connects the call.

It's about 1 baht per minute to call the US.

Do not know about the USA ,but I use the CAT phonenet card available from any Thai post office, I buy 300 bart and can call for about 150 miuits , to a land line in the UK,but a mobile number 300 bart, about 45 minutes. Been using them for some years ,never a problem, would have thought land line call to other county's would be cheap ,to swizerland you do get a few less minutes to a land line.
