Samui To Denpasar?

Featured Replies

Can someone recommend the best way to get from Samui to Denpasar, Bali?

I'm willing to fly into Denpasar, but from where? I'm especially interested in cost-effective solutions!

Many thanks.

Have you checked out the low cost airlines, Tiger or Air Asia via Singapore?

There's a bangkok airways flight from Samui to Singapore, then fly from Singapore to Bali.

Depending on the flight time, you may have to spend the night in Singapore before your connecting flight to Bali. In that case you're better off flying from samui to bangkok, and then bangkok to bali.

I think there are several cheap flights from Singapore to Bali, so that may still end up cheaper even with a night's stay.

Thanks for the suggestions. I haven't checked out any flights yet. I arrive on Samui next week, and I plan to book the flights there.

Do you suggest I

-- Go to Samui's airport to book the flights

-- Go to a (reputable-looking) travel agent or airline office on Samui

-- Book the flights online and hope to get an e-ticket ('cause I have nowhere to receive mail)

-- some other idea?

Thanks once again! See ya next week....

any air travel from and to Samui is expensive. if you want to avoid an annoying land-trip, u can fly from Samui to Singapore by Bangkokair, 5095 Baht including surcharges for a one-way-ticket, but excluding international airport tax (dont know how much that is departing Samui, certainly NOT less than 500 Baht, as their domestic tax is 500 already, to be settled in cash prior to departure). then u would probably need to stay in SIN overnight (cheap rooms for as low as 29 SingaDollars -Fragrance budget chain hotel "RUBY" - can be booked at SIN airport counter 24 hours a day), if you choose the cheapest option to fly to Denpasar from there: that would be Jetstarasia, which will cost you 135 Singa-Dollars including all taxes, if u are able to get a cheap fare. but their daily flight leaves around 4.30 pm in the afternoon, too early, as Bangkokair arrives in SIN around 7 p.m. (UDON, TigerAir does not fly to or from Samui and Bali)

another, much cheaper, but not very comfortable option: when in Samui, book a bus seat to Hat Yai, from there take the bus to KL, and fly with airasia. they have 2 daily departures to DPS. be forwarned that at DPS airport, Indonesian IMMIGRASI-officers will ask for an onward-ticket in most of the cases. and Bali is full and expensive (high-season-rates) in July and August, as its the Indonesian big holiday-season...... but of course BALI is MAGIC :o dont miss it....

or alternatively, book a bus to Phuket and fly from there to KL and then fly from KL to Bali --all with AirAsia.

A bus to KL is an extremely long trip--more than 15 hours I believe. A bus to Phuket is a matter of a few hours.

Thanks for the excellent suggestions. Isn't there a train from Surat Thani to KL and Singapore?

You need to do exactly that, get yourself to KL then onto Bali

Great. Thanks for all the ideas. I'm leaning toward a train to KL or Singapore, and then a flight to Bali.
