Jai Dee
Tax refund for shrimp exporters is being planned The Fisheries Department plans a tax refund for imports of raw materials used in shrimp processing for export. Deputy department head Niwat Sutheemeechaikul (นิวัติ สุธีมีชัยกุล) said shrimp exporters will get the refunds on conditions that they undertake joint ventures with foreign investors for development of processing technology. Mr. Niwat said the department is gathering information for a proposal on the tax refund which will be presented to the new government for approval. He said Thai shrimp exports in the first quarter of this year increased by 20% compared to that of the same period last year. Exports, however, were expected to slow down in the second half of this year due to rising oil prices, political uncertainties and fluctuations of interest rates and the baht value. Singthai
It's time Thai exporters started to learn how to compete in a globalizing world... Still not capable of standing on their own feet
brownsugar
I think Thai farmers have done ok without major subsidies. European farmers only survive through subsidies, without this subsidies & other tariff barriers they could not compete with asian & african producers.
