I will be going to extend my retirement visa about 2 or 3 weeks before the old one expires. Can I obtain a re-entry permit - that would take effect for the new extension - at the same time? Or do I need to wait until the new extension takes effect.

Also I read that you can obtain the income affadavit from the U.S.A. embassy, several months before applying for new extension. Is this true? How long exactly?

Thanks

Once you get your new extension, you can get the reentry permit immediately, It will cover you until your new extension expires.

Reportedly the Income Affidavit from the US Embasssy is valid for 6 months. But, it has been reported by some that their immigration office will not accept one older than 30 days. You should check with the office that you use or report what office you are using so those that have done it there can comment.

I believe you can get your re-entry permit anytime after you get your extension.

I know for certain that the immigration office I must report to will not accept an affidavit confirming income from my embassy which is older than 30 days. In other words, I must apply for the extension within thirty days of the date the affidavit is issued.

Check with your office to be sure.
