Nationwide rice stocks checks to kick off this week

Nationwide-rice-stocks-checks-to-kick-of

BANGKOK: -- Inspectors-general from all ministries have been mobilized to join army troops in an extensive examination of rice stocks held in more than 1,800 warehouses and 137 silos throughout the country.

The officials who will be formed into 100 teams of rice inspectors have been given until August to accomplish the task of checking the rice stocks reported to amount to 17.9 million tonnes, said Mr Jirachai Moonthongroy, an inspector-general attached to the Prime Minister’s Office, on Monday.

A workshop is scheduled to be held on Wednesday to brief all the officials involved in the rice stock checks of the procedures they have to follow.

It was reported that the inspection teams would check the quantity and quality of the rice stored in each warehouse of silo whether the actual amount matches with the amount and quality stated in the books.

Mr Jirachai said that after the workshop all the 100 teams of inspectors would immediately go into action.

Both the Marketing Organization for Farmers and Public Warehouse Organization have been instructed to immediately lodge complaints with the police if it was discovered that rice had gone missing from any warehouse or silo or the quality of the rice did not match the quality stated in the books.

Interesting times. Now we will be able to judge the success or failure of the great rice pledging scam scheme. One is led to wonder if the tonnage figures agree with those stated and actual stocks.

The quality of the stored rice, insect pest content, moisture content fitness for either human or animal consumption or a product of a standard suitable to be turned into some sort of bio fuel.

Why are they announcing this to the public? They should have simultaneously swooped down on all silos and storage facilities without prior notice to ensure none of those places attempt to use nefarious means to show that no rice is missing from their stockpiles. That way the army can go after the culptrits who milked the countries money for the rice scam.

Thaksin's worst idea (and he has had a lot of them). Everyone associated should be thrown in jail for this criminally corrupt enterprise. Cue the TV red shirts to defend this pile of sh#t scheme.........

If one is on a shoot one flushes out the prey by using dogs or beaters then the shooting begins, same tactics concerning the rice inquiry.

Flush out the prey into the guns range.

It's like a house of cards on the verge of collapse and I bet they expose loads of theft and corruption along the way.... This is going to make the great train robbery look like a kiddies outing.

Now the warehouse owners know that stacking out the front with nothing behind it won't work... methinks they are .

When they start dragging people into the police stations and the squawking begins, what's the betting that farmers, millers, exporters and government officials right up to Yingluck's cabinet are involved up to the ears.

That is enough to see Yingluck and Co put in the slammer for a hefty term.

In this case.... shit rolls uphill.

That would be my thought, keep it low and hit them with a surprise! Unless, one is giving them a heads-up. Clearly I do not understand this type of logic either. Old saying? "Never let the mouth, overload the <deleted>...." Has always worked for me. Such is life, unless one wants to eat shi. sandwiches....

The PWO (Chalerm sons mate) denied 3 million tons of rice was missing.

One can be assured that if they only find 2.99999999999 million tons missing the UDD and PTP will say

"See we didn't lie. We told you there was not 3 million tons missing"

That is PTP logic right there. That logic however amusing retracts from my main point.

If the PTP were serious about the tax payers money they would have locked the warehouses as well and pro actively investigated these reports of irregularities. What did they do? They investigated and sacked Supa for reporting it and instead the PTP sent the PTP (through the PWO) to investigate and predictable they found nothing. That fact and that fact alone of holding the taxpayer and voter in contempt ensures I am justified in my support of the DRT taking over. When a govt lie simply because they don't want to be proven wrong that the rice is missing ensures that morales and ethics are not on the side of the PTP ergo the supporters.

I nearly look forward to the outcomes of this rice investigation as much as I look forward to seeing the charges and length of jail time to be served by Chalerm.

Nothing can detract from your main point because your main point is "The reds are evil, and the yellows and Suthep are gods. The reds are so evil, I do not care what 'alleged' evils the yellows visit on the world and Thai people."

You quote yourself a lot, but always fail to mention any "incorrect" assumptions you claimed in previous posts. You are throwing huge wads of misinformation around, like hurling spaghetti at a wall to see what sticks. Then you claim there is nothing on the floor just by walking away from it, and sometimes running away from it..

If there iare no substantial rice stores missing, you will do what you always do: say nothing and move on the next anti PTP rant, hoping no one notices your evasiveness and deliberately incomplete posts. If the rice is missing, you will trumpet your obvious brilliance and even quote previous posts.

Your word for today is obfuscation. Your phrase for today is "lies of ommission".

You are worse than the red ranters altogether, and use the junta's restriction on criticism as a caveman club to bully others (just as many here are doing every day, believing that if you get the last word in that you win an argument).

Despite what you post and say, the Thai elites -- including Suthep -- would not urinate on you if you were on fire. If you explained how loyal you are on TVF he would say, "That's nice. I have to go to the toilet."

You might have missed that the army has already swooped and put their own padlocks on the doors of every rice warehouse and wax sealed the locks. If any tampering with these locks is found then I am assuming an instant court martial for someone....

Several senior ministers stated there was no rice missing. As did PWO. The loss of 91,000 sacks at one warehouse suggests they either lied or are very incompetent.

Still waiting to hear the progress on the investigations into the forged export rice sales documentation and the company head by the spouse of a cabinet minister.

Much more on this to play out.

Obviously you are either unable to read english or you are on something pretty potent. I read the same thread, where does it mention reds at all or yellows or suthep. All it mentions is the ptp, seems you are incapable of actually translating what you see. One has to wonder how simple some people are when they need to make up a heap of innuendo to try to cover their own bias, please do show us all where reds, yellows and suthep are mentioned because I am unable to see them written anywhere apart from your rant, you really are getting pathetic now with your responses. The truth must be scaring the sh*t out of you and this is only the rice scam, looks like you lot are really going down the gurgler in an ever increasing rate.

That 90k sacks is barely a ripple in the supposed 3mn tonnes of missing product. This will be a monstrous scam if that much is missing.

90k sacks is a speck.

I think this job is going to take a lot less time than planed...

Shorter time, longer time, doesn't matter . What does matter is accuracy and transparency by NCPO. They are tightening the noose slowly and with accurate results of the audit, they can start rounding up any suspects still in Thailand.

Are you sure they are warehouses and not mills ?

Entirely different things, the warehouses are where the milled rice is stored not in the mills.

All the mills here are also open. Warehouses and silos not.

It is not clear how much rice is missing, but they have recently announced 91,000 tones from 1 storage facility. I would call that substantial and I suspect it is not the only one.

Why, do I suspect there is more then this? Well simply because everything about the rice scheme has been a failure and the complete lack of real information or clarification makes me and many others very suspicious.

I am fairly convinced that corruption is at work but I won't know for sure until the checks and investigations are complete but I don't think you can blame anyone for thinking that the whole affair stinks and that there is something going on.

No, it is 91,000 sacks which makes about 8,000 tonnes

0.05% give or take a rounding error.

It is a speck on specks in terms of fraud. Fraud nonetheless, but still infinitesamally small

You are right TaH it only represents a two or 3 hundred million of taxpayers money at the estimated cost of 29 or so thousand a ton total cost when purchase price, milling, storage and all the other costs are added up, hardly worth worrying about such an insignificant sum, not worth chasing anyone over, just move on and forget it.

And if they only find 5% of that missing from each of the other 1800 warehouses, well that's even less significant, waste of time doing the whole exercise.

Until it is added up to over 80million sacks.

I see elsewhere that one gent has recently been jailed and ordered to repay 200 million for failing to deliver rice to Iran, then there was the miller who was also jailed and ordered to repay a hefty whack.

Now if these are benchmarks and the jail time and repayments are incremental right up the chain of command then there could be quite a few (hundred) billion recovered and a special rice corruption jail needed.

Could hire this fella to arrange the jail.
